Tinder prepares a new function to flirt at festivals and parties
Festivals and concerts are always a good time to establish communication with new people, talk, make friends and, if all goes well, end the night with a possible new flirt or future relationship. In this sense, Tinder, the king of dating apps, has announced that is testing a new functionality to unite more couples in this type of event. Dubbed "Swipe Surge," this new feature will send users notifications when there's a high spike in Tinder usage in the area.
The company has ensured that when testing in 2016 the sending of push notifications to notify users of excessive traffic in the application, it found that up to twice as many matches originated. In this way, the idea has been to bring these notifications to a real product like Swipe Surge. Operation, therefore, would be very simple. As soon as Tinder detects that there are a very high number of people using the app in a specific area (be it a concert or festival), it would notify active users nearby via a message. Of course, to receive these alerts, users would have to have push notifications activated.
Also, as we can read in TechCrunch, these ads would be designed to attract Tinder users to the application at the same time, since the brand would be included "Swipe Surge" during the event. People who matched by responding to the push notification would be moved to the top of the match queue so Tinder could show them who is currently active in the app.
The company has commented that activity during a festival or event is 15 times higher overall, and increases matchmaking potential by 250%. At the moment, the new "Swipe Surge" functionality would already be up and running in the United States, although we don't know when it will follow suit in other parts of the world, including Spain. We will inform you as soon as we have more information.
