The Google Contacts application is updated with dark mode
Table of contents:
An update is always good news and Google knows how to give it to us. The company has been updating its applications with the new Material Design for some time. In addition, apply the dark mode in some of them through an option in the settings. This dark mode is already in apps like Messages or YouTube and now it's also available in Contacts.
The Google Contacts app comes pre-installed in all those terminals that have Android Stock, that is, they do not have their own personalization layer. An example is Google mobiles, or those that have Android One. Also, if your terminal does not include it, you can freely download it from Google Play and replace it with your phone's standard contacts. The update only applies dark mode If you have it installed, you must update from Google Play. Once the update is installed, an option will appear in the menu to activate or deactivate dark mode.
If you turn this on, you'll see how quickly the content adapts to a darker color palette, with a black background and text in white. You can activate or deactivate the theme whenever you want. Of course, it will only appear in that app, and not in the other Google ones.
Why dark mode?
Google is aware of the benefits of a dark theme on devices.Above all, in those with an OLED panel Black pixels are off pixels and help us save more battery. According to the company, we can save up to 60 percent autonomy compared to white mode. In Android Pie there is an option that allows us to apply a dark mode in the interface and that allows us to save autonomy. In addition, other manufacturers, such as Huawei or OnePlus also include a factory option to add a dark mode.
It is very likely that Google will gradually update all its applications with this option. Most of them can be updated from Google Play and are compatible for any Android device.
