How to organize a meeting with your friends on Google Maps

This was announced by Google at the beginning of the year. The Internet giant wanted to turn Google Maps into a place where you could discover places and more places, whether they were places to have a drink, dine with friends, museums to visit or outdoor activities to do. Surely, according to Google's personal vision, its maps application was seen among users as a mere guide to go from site A to site B and that is why it will be carrying out a series of changes aimed at turning Maps into the definitive companion of our plans and trips.

Forget messy plans and organize your meeting with Google Maps

Right now, numerous users are reporting that they finally have a new function in Google Maps that allows them to create small lists of places to later share them with their group of friends on WhatsApp. How many times has organizing a dinner with friends been a real headache for us? Sending links and more links to restaurants, having our friends speak up, discarding sites and adding new ones, losing count of the sites that no longer work and of the new ones that could be worth…

This is over since, finally, Google Maps allows you to do the above. And we are going to tell you how to do it, step by step, so that you are not caught by surprise when this new function is activated (if it is you don't already have it, of course).

First, of course, download the Google Maps application if you don't already have it installed on your mobile phone. You must download it from the Google application store. Once downloaded and installed, open it and proceed as follows.

We look for the type of place we want to go with our friends. For the example, we have told the application to show us 'dinner places' At the top of the screen we can filter the results and computer according to the distance to which we are, that shows you only those that are open at the moment, type of cuisine or best valued according to the opinions of Google Maps users.

Just below the map we have the list of places that we will discover as we go down the screen.If we want to add a place to the collaborative list to later share it with your friends, press and hold one of the photos that illustrate the place in question. Automatically, a pop-up bubble will appear with a number on it. If you keep pressing different places, they will be added to the list and the bubble number will increase.

Once we have the list completed with all the places, click inside the bubble. If we want to delete it, we just have to click on the three-point menu that we see located in the upper right corner of the screen. We can change the view of the places in the elaborated list, by clicking on the 'map' icon that we have right next to the points menu. In this view, the added users will be able to see the places located on the map itself and thus they will be able to get a better idea of ​​where each of them is.

If you want to share the list, click on 'Share'. Next, you will have to give it a name and, again, click on 'Share'. Google Maps will create the link and we can now share it in our WhatsApp group, Telegram or on social networks like Facebook. In the link created, users will be able to vote up or down the places, being able to add places on the fly.
