If there is something that the Government of Cantabria deals with intensely, with President Revilla at the helm, it is tourism. Not surprisingly, Cantabria is one of the most privileged tourist enclaves in our country. And now we have the opportunity to get to know him through a geocaching activity And more specifically, through a game called Geotur: The Templars' Treasure.
This is a game that uses geocaching technology and has been promoted by the Saja Nansa Rural Development Association, together with the Vice-Presidency of the Government of Cantabria.Through this application, visitors will have the opportunity to participate, like intrepid explorers, in tracking no more and no less than 148 treasures located in the Saja Nansa region.
Those who participate will have a year to complete the search for each of these locations and treasures. They will do so inspired by the famous grimoire Libro de San Cipriano from the 10th century, in which the Knights of the Order of the Temple inscribed clues to locate 148 treasures along the Camino de Santiago. They were, in fact, the first geocachers in history. Now we will have the opportunity to follow their tracks.
An innovative way to promote tourism
This is an innovative initiative, with which we want to promote the region of Saja Nansa The 18 mayors of the different towns have participated with their own financing and all the actors have been very satisfied for having launched the first project of these characteristics in our country.
The application, or rather the game, has something very interesting about it. And it is inclusive: it is aimed at all kinds of audiences. It doesn't matter if they are families, young people or older people. Anyone can start looking for treasures.
To become a geocacher, simply register at www.geocaching.com and follow the event or quest instructions. Usually the map of the territory is downloaded and the coordinates of the geocache or location are entered When finding it, the user will have to open the box of the treasure found, sign the booklet it contains and leave it in its place. You can then share your search experience via social media.
