How to listen to any music service on Android Auto
In Google there has been a lot of movement regarding streaming music services or through the Internet. And it seems that the search engine is more committed to taking its users who want to listen to music without ads through YouTube Music. The problem is that those who do not have a paid subscription to Google Play Music, until now the default Android Auto player, cannot listen to music with this service. But no problem, in this article we will tell you how to use any music service or player to continue adding a soundtrack to your journeys by car.
The first thing, of course, is to have Android Auto installed on your Android phone. It is a free application that transforms the screen of your terminal into an on-board navigator to make your car smarter Or, if your vehicle is compatible, be able to take all the information of the music, contacts, messages, browser and calls to the dashboard of the same. This app comes with Google Play Music as a default player, but it doesn't have to be the only one.
The next thing you should do is click on the menu in the upper left corner. These stripes display the side menu, from where it is possible to access the Applications for Android Auto section. This is quick access to the apps and tools that are compatible with this in-vehicle system. In other words, they work perfectly in your connectable car or directly through the simplified screen of your mobile.
Within the Google Play Store, when you click on Applications for Android Auto, you will find a special section dedicated to streaming and playlists. Or what is the same, to music on demand via the Internet.
As if it were any usual application, you just have to click on it to access the download page and then click on the Install button. You can choose from a great selection like the new YouTube Music, the hegemonic Spotify, or even radio services like Deezer. There is a wide variety, some paid and others free. Click on the More button on the general screen of Applications for Android Auto, in the Stream a Playlist section to find the entire selection available.
Once the desired service is installed, it remains to restart Android Auto so that the system recognizes this new (or new) application installed on the mobile. When we have exited and re-entered Android Auto we will not find anything different, except for a small triangle that appears next to the music icon of this application. Pressing it does not directly access Google Play Music as before, but all the musical options installed in the terminal that are compatible with Android Auto are displayed. In this way we can choose the service we want to use during the trip.
Of course, it is possible that, when using services such as Spotify, which require a user account (either Premium or free), you have to carry out the process registerOr maybe sign as a user if you already have an account with them. From here you can use the service as usual, as if it were the music application itself, but with a simplified image. Something that allows you to play music with fewer screen taps or even with voice commands so you don't lose your attention from the road. In addition, from the main menu button (the stripes) you can choose playlists from your account, or move through the usual sections and functions of the installed service.
And, if you want to change the service, remember that you just have to click on the music icon and choose any one from the list. Of course, handle your mobile phone only when you are stopped in a safe place, and never while you are driving. Another option is to use the “Ok Google” command plus a voice command to play a station, artist or playlist.
