The BBVA mobile banking application has just been updated with new security tools. Almost all banks and savings banks have their own app to operate from mobile devices and security is, without a doubt, one of their most important points.
The bank announced today the integration of new functions in the application for users in Spain, which aims to increase security of customers accessing their accounts from a mobile device.
The tool, which already has the update available and fully operational, will allow users to configure their own security zone, from the same menu, in addition to disabling or make invisible the information about operations of your accounts and products But, let's see what's new and how they increase the security of users.

Customers who so wish may deactivate at any time the possibility of making operations on accounts, cards and any other product, whether savings or of any other nature, if you deem it appropriate for your safety. It is something very similar to what we would do when we want to deactivate or turn off a debit or credit card, something that many entities already allow.
From that moment on, what BBVA has called 'consultation mode' will be activated, with which customers will be able to continue consulting the information of their accounts, but they will not be able to make any type of modification. Operations will be totally limited.
If you have suspicions about any type of violation or fraud, there will be the possibility (within that consultation mode) of modifying the access code to the service. Once the problems or doubts that the user has have been resolved, they will be able to reactivate the service without problems, once again opening the possibility of operating, from the same mobile application. If you wish, because it is more convenient for you, you can also do it from the BBVA Line, using your computer.
Turn cards on and off, a new function
This is an operational possibility that is also present in other applications, such as ING's.Thus, instead of calling to cancel the cards and make new ones, in case of loss or theft, users will be able to directly turn off the cards so that nobody can use them
This is actually a function designed for those moments in which for one reason or another we lose our cards, either because we have forgotten the wallet somewhere or because, by mistake, it has disappeared.
Thus, users will be able to separately activate or deactivate the functions of each of their cards. And do it, moreover, only for certain operations. For example, making payments at the POS, paying remotely or withdrawing cash at ATMs. This can be useful in certain circumstances or sdepending on when and where the owner of the cards is.

To the novelties mentioned, which are the central ones, we must add others. The first is real-time monitoring of customer movements, with immediate security alerts. They are notices about access to the application or even operations that are out of the ordinary, either by quantity, recipient or place, especially if payments or transfers are made outside the usual destinations.
Those who leave the country will also have the possibility of activating the travel mode. At that time, the user will stop receiving alerts for suspicious movements abroad.
Users of the application will continue to be able to identify themselves through biometrics, either through fingerprints, iris or face recognition.
