- More applications banned from the Google Play Store
- Special protection for minors
There have not been a few occasions in which we have talked to you about how some fraudulent or not very recommendable apps sneaked into the Google Play Store, the official app store for Google Well, it seems that Mountain View is a bit fed up with so many incursions and has now decided to put an end to certain practices and types of applications.
A new regulation, released this month of July, wants to end the open bar for developers and cybercriminals who are dedicated to making inappropriate use of the Google store Thus, everything indicates that many applications will soon disappear from the Google Play Store. While many others will no longer have a place here.
One of the affected categories has to do with cryptocurrencies and specifically, with cryptocurrency mining applications. It seems that Google will no longer allow this type of applications in its store, nor will it allow some apps aimed at children to become part of this set, which are misleading and have repetitive content. All those, in short, that do not contribute at all to improving the quality of the store.
What will happen to cryptocurrency apps?
Within the new Google policy, those applications that are dedicated to cryptocurrency mining will no longer be admitted.Sí Those apps that do not mine will continue to be admitted, but that function as wallets. This policy has already been applied previously by Apple, in relation to its own app store.
Also, the only cryptocurrency apps allowed are those that function as wallets and those that are dedicated to extracting cryptocurrency, but from outside the device. They are all those that work in the cloud. No other will be accepted.
More applications banned from the Google Play Store
But beware, the new Google rules also leave out a good number of applications that from now on will be completely banned. These include those that in one way or another contain spam. Thus, we must take into account that from now on the applications that: will be struck down
- Be clones of others If you have minimally dived through the Google Play Store you will know that there are countless clone applications, which are dedicated to making (or at least they promise) the same as many others. We are talking, for example, about flashlight apps, compasses, tools to clean devices, and so on. From now on, any app that does the same as another app will not be supported.
- Include as sole purpose. Many applications have to survive, but there are many others that have been created with the purpose of distributing with the excuse of doing something else. These applications will also be struck down from the Google store.
- Impersonate others. That is, they try to impersonate an official body, company or media to carry out fraudulent or unethical practices.
- Include gratuitous violence. Obviously, this includes all those applications that promote crimes and injuries against people or animals, suicide and eating disorders.
- Attempt to trade or encourage the purchase of dangerous goods. Surely you are thinking about weapons, drugs and things like that and you are right. We are talking about sales, but also instructions on how to make explosives or even weapons.
Special protection for minors
Protecting minors should be a priority for any online service. Also for the Google Play Store. In this case, Google clearly establishes the prohibition of all those apps that sexualize children or that include images of sexual abuse. In these especially serious cases, complaints will be made to the relevant authorities and the accounts of those responsible will be immediately disabled. On the other hand, all those applications that are for children, but in which adult themes are de alt with.
