VLC vetoes its video application on Huawei mobiles
If you have a Huawei mobile phone and used to watch your series and movies through the VLC media player, you may have been in for an unpleasant surprise. And it is that this complete player has stopped supporting all the models of the Chinese brand. For what is this? Well, according to the creators, due to Huawei's decision not to allow apps that are not from the brand to run in the background.
Due to this situation, VideoLAN, developer of the VLC application, has decided to withdraw its support in, attention, each and every one of the Huawei terminalsthat are currently available on the official market. If before the ban you noticed that the VLC application began to fail on your Huawei terminal, you already know the causes. Your phone's own software was interfering with the playback of your music and video files.
PSA: @HuaweiMobile phones are now blacklisted and cannot get VLC on the Play Store.Their ridiculous policy of killing all background apps (except their own) breaks VLC audio background playback (of course).See https ://t.co/QzDW7KbV4I and many other reports…@HuaweiFr

In a terminal with pure Android, without a customization layer, this does not happen. What is going on then? That Huawei does not have pure Android, which is the interface, let's say, 'without decorations' that comes out of the Google oven and that some terminals have, such as the Pixel or, with very few additions, the Lenovo Motorola. The Xiaomi and Huawei brands, for example, have customization layers on Android, called MIUI and EMUI, respectively.
With these layers, the user has at his disposal the possibility of making numerous changes in the interface of the same, being otherwise impossible to carry out. Both customization layers have a battery saving option that is directly related to the interests of applications that must work in the background The system is capable of ' Eliminate' any application execution that you feel is using more battery than normal and that are not essential for the proper functioning of the terminal. And, apparently, this is what is happening with EMUI and VLC. Huawei considers that running in the background drains the battery and, to improve the autonomy of the terminal, it eliminates these processes so that it works correctly. Result? The user stops watching his favorite series, immediately thinking that the problem is with the application itself
In fact, in recent days, numerous negative opinions have reached the Play Store, the application store from where users can download VLC. Many users even warn that the problem is supposedly Huawei's customization layer, which limits the functionality of background processes to improve autonomy, and urges users to investigate within the settings menu of your Huawei phone.
If you have a Huawei phone now you will have to download another of the many media players that you have at your disposal in the Google Play Store. Or else download the VLC app from a trusted repository like APK Mirror. Huawei has not yet ruled on this issue.
