Instagram is a very complete application, but it has always lacked its Lite version, with a more basic design, which consumes less data and occupies less internal storage. Fortunately, this application has already arrived. Instagram Lite is now officially available on Google Play, although at the moment, it is only available in some countries and devices. Even so, we have been able to see all the news of this new light app and we show you a little trick to be able to use it on your Android.
Instagram Lite arrives as a lighter version of the photography social network. It is designed for mobile devices that have basic specifications, as well as people who do not have a large mobile data rate and do not want to consume so many megabytes. Of course, some things change from the main application, although the function remains the same. The light app is about 225 KB, while the main app is 160 MB on our device.
With Instagram Lite we can upload images in our Stories, post on our wall, comment, like and see the stories of our followers. So what are the differences? Instagram Lite removes some features. For example, while you can upload content, editing options are much more limited.The filters decrease, as well as the editing options that allow you to completely renew the image on Instagram. Practically the same thing happens with Stories, no filters, no stickers or surveys But without a doubt, the most important thing is that Instagram Directs disappear from the Lite application. Therefore, we will not be able to send messages or reply to Stories, since this feature is not found. It is a very straightforward way to save storage and mobile data. Finally, Instagram Lite removes animations and transitions so we don't have performance issues.
How to try Instagram Lite
As we mentioned, Instagram Lite is already available on Android, but for the moment in some countries. Unfortunately, it is not available in Spain, but there is an option that allows us to test the application.
Open Google Chrome on your device and go to Instagram.com. Once inside, ilogin to your account directly from the browser, without opening the application. Most likely, you will see the possibility of adding Instagram to the home screen of your mobile. If so, click accept. Otherwise, you must go to the page menu by clicking on the three points in the upper area. Look for the “add to home screen” option. A box will appear that will confirm if we want to add Instagram. Click on "add" and go to the home page of our mobile.
Now you will see that there is an application called Instagram with the icon in white color This is the Lite version, which can also be downloaded on Google Play in some markets. If we enter, the session will already be started. We can see how it is an application very similar to that of Instagram, but with fewer resources.If you want to uninstall the lite version you can do it like a normal application.
