5 new gestures to organize your Gmail mail instantly
Gmail, Google email, has not stopped improving over the years So much so that today very little remains of the first Gmail we met. Now most of us use the mobile application to manage our mail at any time and place.
If you are one of these too, you might be interested to know that the new Gmail app has been expanded with new features. The Gmail app for Android now includes the option to customize the left and right swipe actions of a message.
Until now, users could only move their finger in one of two directions to archive a message or delete it Nothing else . From now on, these options are expanded to make life easier for users, as far as email organization is concerned, of course.
If you want to configure, you will only have to update your Gmail application Given this step, access the hamburger menu (located in the top left corner of the app) and select Settings > General Settings > Swipe Actions. From here you can choose what action you want to take when you swipe to the left. And which one do you prefer when swiping to the right.
1. Archive a message
To begin with, you should know that this is an option that was already available, just like Delete a message. So if you don't touch anything, it will continue to be set by default, so that swiping to the right will archive the message. This is an option that is also set by default when you swipe to the left.
2. Delete a message
It is very practical that simply by sliding, to one side or the other, you can delete those messages that do not interest you. Because it's a great way to keep your mailbox organized. Click on change (in any of the options, to Swipe (right) and Swipe (left) to choose Delete.
3. Mark a message as read / unread
Marking messages as read or unread is a handy way to organize messages you've already read, but might want to take a closer look at another time. You have the two options (mark as read or as unread) and you can configure them in any direction.
4. Move a message
If you are one of those who have classified the mailbox by folders (work, personal, a specific client), you can use these sliders to move messages from one tray to another.
5. Snooze a message
We also have the option to snooze messages, to receive notifications later and not miss any email. You can configure this option in the same way as the others. When moving towards the chosen direction, you will be able to choose if you want to receive a notification later today, tomorrow, next week, next weekend or choose a date and time at your whim.
If you want to modify any of these options, you can do it without any problem, even after you have configured them for the first time. It is about adapting the operation of this tool according to your daily needs. It doesn't make sense to have the Archive option set as default if you never use it. Instead, selecting those actions that you go to most often will be great for keeping your mailbox organized. That is not an easy task!
