This is YouTube's incognito mode on Android
Table of contents:
For anyone who doesn't know (something that surprises us, and a lot) we can all navigate without leaving an apparent trace, that is, privately. To do this, we just have to open a browser tab in incognito mode. In this way, search engines will not know what we are looking for, what we see and it will not be recorded in our history. Now Android is testing an incognito mode on its most popular and most visited video app, YouTube.
Browse YouTube without anything being recorded
And it's not that nowadays we can't watch videos that we would later be ashamed of. Incognito mode already exists on YouTube but not under that name. You have to dig around a bit to find it and it is not an intuitive process. To do this, we must do the following.
- Once we have the YouTube application open, we are going to click on the circle of our avatar
- Then, on the screen that appears, we are going to look for 'Settings' and a gear icon, which we press
- On the next screen, click on 'History and privacy'
- To navigate in incognito mode we must activate the options 'Pause playback history' and 'Pause search history'
The effect is the same as in incognito mode but, as we have seen, it is not a section in the settings screen, but you have to refine the search a bit and investigate. But this already, in the very near future, has its days numbered. As we can read in Android Police, YouTube is testing an incognito mode with own category located on the first screen, just as soon as we access our avatar.
When we turn on incognito mode, none of your searches will be saved in the app and subscriptions will not appear on the screen. In addition, instead of your usual profile photo, an incognito mode icon will appear, similar to the one we can already see in Google Chrome. This new update has not appeared in the Play Store but is an internal improvement. It is unknown if it will be extended to other users and when it will become effective.
