Instagram Stories already has its own bokeh or blur effect
Table of contents:
The inclusion of the dual camera in the vast majority of high-end mobile phones has its great ally in bokeh. The bokeh, or blur, mode was typical of reflex cameras, having the possibility of altering the depth of field and making the background of a portrait blur. It is true that there are terminals that can do it through software, but most equipment
New bokeh effect in Instagram Stories
What about affordable handset owners? They have to use third-party applications, such as Afterfocus or Snapseed to achieve this effect. Now, Instagram joins the blur fashion and offers its users the possibility of applying this effect in their Stories. This is how the social network itself has let us know through its official blog.
The new bokeh mode in Instagram Stories will only be available in the following terminals:
iPhone SE, 6S, 6S+, 7, 7+, 8, 8+ and iPhone X
In the official Instagram note they literally state that for Android it will only be available on 'Select devices' but they do not detail what requirements You must have the terminal. The best thing is that you go to check if, indeed, you have it available in your terminal. To do this, the first thing you should do is make sure that the version of Instagram you have installed is 39.0 or higher. If so, open the app. We are going to tell you how to take a photo with the blur effect.
Once you have opened the application, open the Stories section To do this, you only have to slide your finger to the right, being in the main wall of photos of your contacts, or by pressing the camera icon that you can see in the upper left part of that same screen.
Under the button that we press to take the photo we have the usual options, such as Booomerang, Normal, Direct, Superzoom… and next to it, the new section of 'Focus'. Swipe to focus.
Note: the blur effect only works with people
The application will now ask you to focus on a face.Unfortunately, Instagram's blur mode doesn't work on animals or objects, so you won't be able to immortalize your kitty with a pretty bokeh effect. To do this, as we said, use a third-party app such as Afterfocus or Snapseed.
The blur effect is visible even before the photo is taken. The downside is that we won't be able to adjust this effect, although we have to say that the result has seemed quite good to us, at least in the terminal that we have tried it on (a OnePlus 3T). The blur effect also works with the front camera, and we can also see it before taking the photo.
In addition, Instagram users on iOS have an additional update that will hopefully reach Android users soon. This is the mentions sticker With this sticker we can tag and interact much easier with our friends. Here's how it works: once you've taken a photo or video, open the stickers section at the top and a new @mentions sticker will appear. Then start typing the name of a contact and their sticker will appear. You can place it wherever you want, resize it, and rotate it.
