Facebook Messenger now lets you share links to join groups
Table of contents:
Privileged users come to Facebook Messenger, specifically, to their chat groups. Until now, all users were equal within these groups, with a maximum of 250 people, and could edit under the same conditions. But that has changed.
Now, the figure of the group administrator gains strength. They will be able to remove other users, as well as make them administrators, or remove their rank. Besides, a new way of inviting a group is established, through a link.
Invitation by link
Another function that comes to Facebook Messenger will be to send a link. Thus, anyone who receives the link will only have to click on it to become part of the group and be able to view all the conversations. This link, initially, can be sent by any user, not necessarily an administrator.
To be able to send this link, we must go to Group details, which we find in the information button. In the menu we will see, among others, la option Share group link.

When the user receives the link and clicks, the onboarding process will not be immediate. If the group is small and has no administrator, the new user must be accepted by at least one current member of the group in order to start viewing and writing. In the case of a larger group, it will be the administrator himself who accepts the newcomer.
This link may have several uses, allowing access to new people. For this reason, Facebook Messenger has also provided the possibility of deactivating the link, once it has fulfilled its purpose. If we return to the group information menu, just dunder the Share group link option we will find Deactivate link, which allows us to regain control.
All these new features are very familiar to us, since they are identical to those we were able to see at the end of 2017 when they were integrated into WhatsApp. Finally, it is important to mention that these new functions will only be active, initially, for very large groups, and only for Android versions Even so, we imagine that they will soon be extended to iOS as well. We will be aware when that happens.
