How to activate instant translation in Google Translate
Table of contents:
It's happened to all of us: we're looking at a web page on our mobile, in a language we don't know, and we have no idea how to automatically translate itThe first thing that occurs to us is to copy and paste the text, go to the Google Translate application, and if we are lucky and it is installed, paste and translate. A bit cumbersome system that hinders the experience of reading and understanding what is being read.
Not everyone knows about the 'Instant Translation' feature of Google Translate. With this simple utility we will be able to select any text from the Internet (including texts from instant messaging applications such as WhatsApp) and, automatically, be able to translate them without having to leave the page itself. How to do it? It is very simple. Follow the steps that we propose below and do not leave a website in a foreign language without translating.
How to automatically translate a text in the Chrome browser
The first thing we are going to do is download the Google Translate application from the Android Play Store application. Once downloaded, we install it and open it for the first time. The installation file is 14 MB in size for your information.
- Once installed and opened, we will download the translation files without Internet connection. These files have a weight of 30 MB so, this time, you may want to be under a WiFi connection.
- When we have downloaded the files, we are going to click on the menu of three vertical stripes that we can see in the upper left bar of the application. We can also access the menu by sliding the screen to the right.
- Let's now click on 'Settings', on the gear icon. Here we can adjust different parameters of the application, such as voice input or data usage of the application. We are going to stay in the section that interests us: Touch to Translate.
Touch to translate
- We have three settings in this section: Enable, show notification and preferred languages In the first we are going to enable the function: this setting is mandatory to mark. As for showing notification, it already depends on the user. If we check this option, when we are in an application that displays text in another language, a lower bar will appear with the language it is in and to which we can translate it.
- In preferred languages we can place the languages that we translate most frequently.
How to translate partial text of a website
We are going to enter a foreign web page. When we already have it, we proceed to copy any text and, in the pop-up menu that appears, we are going to click on the three-point menu. Click on 'Translate' Automatically and instantly a secondary window will appear with the translation corresponding to what we have selected.
How to translate an entire web page
We access the page we want to translate. If we look at the bottom of the screen, a bar (the notification mentioned in the menu) should have appeared with several options: language the page is in, language it can be translated into, and a three-dot menu.
- If we want to translate the entire page, we are going to click on 'Spanish' if we want to translate the page into our language.
- On the contrary, if we always want the pages to be translated into English or you want to add languages to the translations, press the menu three points.
How to translate WhatsApp text
