The Netflix application is updated for Android and iPhone with these new features
Table of contents:
We bring you juicy news regarding the Netflix application, both on Android and iOS systems. This is the possibility of being able to view 30-second clips of the content hosted on the streaming platform, so that the user thus has an overview of what can be found if they decide to play.
It is clear that the increase in data rates has led many users to decide to watch streaming content without even using the offline download under a WiFi connection. This function is very suitable for when our data rate is low, but taking into account that we already have quite succulent rates from the operators, it doesn't hurt to be able to watch the movie we want, at the time we want, without depending on the download advance.
Vertical Trailers on the Netflix App
In this direction, Netflix has just activated a new function that is compatible with both iOS and Android operating systems. Now, we have a new section within the application called 'Previews': are circular icons that contain a small 30-second trailer, adapted to the vertical format typical of the mobile phones, so that users can decide, with greater criteria, if the content can be adjusted to their preferences at the moment.
The vice president of the company, Todd Yellin, confirmed this at an early press conference, assuring that the preview could reach hundreds of titles on the streaming platform. To make use of this new preview function, the user only has to click on one of the rounded icons, which correspond to as many titles hosted on the platform . Next, a half-minute clip will automatically play with a format adapted to mobile phones, having been previously edited by Netflix's own engineers.
According to the company's vice president, around 50% of active Netflix users use their mobile devices (phones and tablets) to access the platform month by month. A number that will surely increase over time, thanks to the already mentioned gigantic data rates and features such as preview.
