WhatsApp now allows you to switch between calls and video calls on Android
Table of contents:
The website specialized in leaks of the WhatsApp instant messaging application, Wabetainfo, has just announced that it is beginning to gradually implement the switch that will allow the user to switch between calls and video calls This new improvement has been included in version 2.18.4 of the WhatsApp Beta group, a group in which users have access to the test versions of the app. At the end of the article we will tell you how to access the group and be able to download the new versions.
Toggle switch enabled in WhatsApp
Now, when you make a call to a user on WhatsApp, you can switch to a video call. The user you are calling, when you press the switch, will receive a notification letting them know that you want to switch from calling to video calling. The notification will be made by text message, a message that the receiving user can confirm or reject. We do not know if the change to a video call will have to be notified by the person who wishes to make it by voice or WhatsApp, in addition to the text message, there will be an audible warning for this purpose. We can see it in the following screenshot: at the bottom of the call screen, we see a video icon, on the left the speaker and on the right the mute button.
The recipient of the message can, at that moment, either accept or reject the video call proposal. In the event that the user rejects the video call, the call itself will continue as if nothing had happened. If, on the contrary, the user decides to accept the video call, WhatsApp will take care of doing the work for you. WhatsApp has created this function for the user to gain comfort. Previously, if a WhatsApp customer was on a call and decided to switch to a video call, they had to end the call and switch to a video call. Now this is no longer necessary, being able to do the procedure from the same call
How to join the WhatsApp Beta Community
Beta versions of applications are raw versions that still lack some details to make them work perfectly, or that include features that have not yet been released to the public. Companies release Beta versions so that the user can test them and, thus, report any bugs they find in it.
WhatsApp has its own Beta Community where users can access early versions of the app. For example, a user has been able to enjoy, before anyone else, the new emoticons of dinosaurs or zombies. If you want to join the WhatsApp Beta Community:
First, uninstall the WhatsApp application that you have installed, since it will no longer work for you. If you don't want or don't feel like uninstalling the app, that's no problem either. Later we will explain the process to you.
Once you have uninstalled the application, go to this link and follow the instructions. You simply have to enter the group, without further ado.
Now, if you uninstalled the application, go to this link and download the Beta version of WhatsApp that is available at that time. If, on the other hand, you decided not to uninstall it, an application update will appear. When you download and install it, you will already be with the experimental version of WhatsApp, so you can test the new features before many other users.
If you want to go back to using the normal version of WhatsApp, go back to the first link of the Beta Community and exit it. Then uninstall the app and, after a few minutes, download it again. Everything will then be as before.
