HQ Trivia
Table of contents:
Can you imagine being able to compete in a trivial type TV program…from your own phone? And yes, by the way, earn real money, cold and hard. Well, for a while, this has been real on the Apple platform thanks to the HQ Trivia application. Launched last October, HQ Trivia offered all iPhone users the chance to win real money on a peculiar 'TV show' that is broadcast directly on our mobile phones. Specifically, a couple of broadcasts during the week and one on weekends and holidays.
HQ Trivia is now coming to Android, although only in pre-registration format For now, all we future contestants can do is to sign up for the waiting list at this link. This registration does not give us immediate access to the application: with this operation, we are simply telling HQ Trivia that we want to be future contestants. When it is available to everyone, we will be notified by a notification on our own phone and we will be able to download it.
HQ for Android is coming. Pre-register now on Google Play Store.

What is HQ Trivia about?
HQ Trivia gives us the chance to win real money thanks to a question-and-answer contest broadcast on our mobile.Contestants can win a variable amount of money, depending on the day. On occasions, the minimum of the day was stipulated at 2,000 dollars (more than 1,600 euros in exchange) and the maximum at no less than 10,000 dollars (about 8,400 euros per change). To do this, we must answer 12 questions. The game mechanics are very simple: the presenter asks a question with three possibilities. You must answer the question in the shortest time possible. If they answer it before the first ten seconds, they're still in the game. If not, they will be removed until the next chance.

The creators of HQ Trivia, some old acquaintances
Many mourned the disappearance of the famous Vine application: that kind of precursor to Instagram Stories that gave the possibility for comedians to emerge like mushrooms. Two of its creators, Rus Yusupov and Colin Kroll, founded the company Intermedia Labs last year. Right after that, it was announced via Twitter that the application would be closed permanently and without turning back. And, simultaneously, Intermedia Labs launched Hype, a Periscope-style application that allowed streaming. A study by Hype on what was the content, generated by the users of the same, more loyal to the user, revealed that it was about the contests. Contests such as HQ Trivia.
Needless to say, they soon got to work creating their own contest, with more media, and launching it globally, even if it was iPhone users' turn first. Thus, they ensured, almost instantly, an almost viral success, today having an audience of 100,000 viewers worldwide per episode. There were some episodes that, in their day, brought together more than 120 people in front of their mobile screens.000 people. Last Christmas day they reached 750,000 contestants in the same episode.

If they give money, how do they earn it?
How do you monetize an app like HQ Trivia? In Yusupov's words, the purpose of HQ Trivia is not, initially, or at least as its main objective, to make money. It's more about providing juicy content to companies and brands and having them sponsor the contest in some way. But always so that the game is optimized and goes in favor of the contestant.
So far, HQ Trivia starts weekdays at 3 in the afternoon and 9 at night. On weekends, only at 9. Each show is about 15 minutes long and is hosted by comedian Scott Rogowsky. The arrival on Android is a challenge for its creators, because the greater the flow of visits, the greater the optimization of the application so that it does not suffer significant latencies. We will see the result very soon on our screens.
