Apple will allow you to use iPhone applications on iPad and Mac
Table of contents:
At Apple they have always sold the joint experience on their devices, making it easy to transfer files or backups through the same Apple ID account. However, that sense of synchrony was no longer evident when we talked about apps The incompatibilities between iOS and macOS in their app store made this process difficult. Now, Apple plans to take action on that matter.
As we found out from Bloomberg, next year will bring us an overhaul of the Mac App Store, something that actually hasn't happened since 2014 (if you look, the same store icon is the old one, while iPhones and iPads with iOS 11 already show the new one). The idea is to allow the use of applications both with the computer and with mobile devices, so that, yes, we can finally close the circle.
One for all and all for one)
Under the new approach, developers will no longer have to create apps for iOS and then make a version for macOS,but instead it will be about the same app, and they will share updates (something that doesn't happen now, the Mac versions being quite abandoned).
The new application developments will have to conceive two modes of use, one touch and the other with a mouse, and that the app works as one way or another, depending on where it starts from.
This plan is not yet official as Apple refuses to comment on itHowever, from Bloomberg they have managed to get hold of internal sources who affirm that the strategy exists, and that it even has a secret name, "Marzipan".
Towards a single system?
Already with iOS 11 we saw the introduction of a new app, called Files, which allowed iPhone and iPad users to interact with the iCloud Drive folder on their Mac This makes the task of transferring files between different formats much easier.
Now, the next step is that we can work interchangeably with our favorite applications on any device. In a way, it's the same move that Microsoft made with Windows 10,in looking to create a compatible system for different formats. The difference is that, in the case of Apple, the mobile version is used.
