How to use your Android phone to control Google Slides
Table of contents:
Google Slides have become the new Power Point. Now there is no need to carry files around on a flash drive All you need is a computer and an Internet connection (if you hurry me, a projector) to transfer the presentations to your audience.
They are a great alternative for academic presentations, but also to present projects to clients, training sessions or team meetings. There is also a useful and easy-to-configure system that lets you use your Android phone to control Google slides
If you have a phone with the operating system at home and you also want to show the slides of your presentation without having to go near your computer You have to find out about this. Next, we will tell you how you can control the slides from an Android.
Currently, there is already the possibility of using the phone as a remote control. But you must have a screen equipped with the Chromecast system.
Those who do not have this possibility can also do it in another way. And it's through a browser extension built for Chrome. The developer is Henry Lim. We tell you how to activate it below.
Control Google Slides remotely
The extension in question is called Remote for Google Slides. Logically, before putting your presentations up and running, you will have to install it. To do so, follow the instructions below:
1. The first thing you have to do, then, is activate the Remote for Google Slides extension from here. Logically, you will need to have the Chrome browser installed AND access it from this tool. If you try with another browser, such as Firefox or Internet Explorer, you will not be able to. Of course, it works without problems with Opera.
2. Next, click on the Add to Chrome button. It is located at the top of the window. Choose Add extension. You may need to click again on Add extension to Chrome.
3. With the extension installed, the next thing you'll need to do is go to Google Slides. You will need to open the presentation you want to control remotely.
4. And then, rename the URL from: docs.google.com/presentation/d/your_presentation_id/edit to docs.google.com/presentation/d/your_presentation_id/present
5. Wait for the presentation to load completely. Next, a notification will appear in the form of a pop-up window, with a link and a 6-digit code. Note that this code is also displayed at the bottom, in the control bar.
6. Next, open s.limhenry.xyz on another device. This is where you will have to include the code in question. And you'll be ready to start your presentation.
An interesting trick for your Presentations
The tool also offers users the ability to launch the web application from the home screen, within the applications section .
To get it, you will have to open https://s.limhenry.xyz/ on your mobile. Then choose Add to Home Screen from the navigation menu. The application icon will now appear on the screen itself.
Please note that this only works for certain browsers and operating systems. The most important, logically, are Chrome and Android.
