Samsung has announced the launch of a new app, called SeeColors, designed to optimize the viewing experience for people who suffer from color blindnessThe color blind person is unable to distinguish some ranges of colors, something that can affect the enjoyment of certain visual content, such as television.
With SeeColors app, the user will first test which color spectrum it recognizes, and based on the test results, the TV will adjust its color settingsin order to reproduce the colors as faithfully as possible for the user. For now, the app will only be effective on Samsung QLED TVs.
Collaborative development
To create this app, Samsung has worked together with Colorite, a Hungarian company that has been doing scientific research for 20 years focused on improving the situation of the colorblind. It is, in fact, the first time that this company's technology is going to be applied to televisions and mobile phones.
About 300 million people in the world suffer from color blindness, but there are many who are not aware of it, being in intermediate stages. That is why Samsung is encouraged to try the app on our QLED televisions, since it can enrich our viewing experience in ways we never would have imagined.
Availability
This app is available for free on the Smart TV versions of the App Store and Google Play In addition, it can be found at the Galaxy App Store for televisions but also for mobile phones, from the Galaxy S6 model onwards. From the same phone you can assess the level of color blindness, and the connected Smart TV will automatically adjust the color for your screen.
It is certainly great news for everyone that these types of initiatives are launched, since little by little we see how, through technology, we manage to integrate more and more groups that do not fully enjoy the audiovisual culture in which we live.
Samsung has long been committed to accessibility through innovation and technology, which is why it has received the CES Award for Innovation in 2015, 2016 , 2017 and 2018.
