MAN Virtual
Samsung and the National Archaeological Museum have launched a new joint project. The two have collaborated to transform cultural experiences inside and outside the museum. To this end, they have presented the "MAN Virtual" application, a virtual visit to the National Archaeological Museum The new multiplatform virtual visit will allow users from all over the world to visit remotely the rooms of the National Archaeological Museum through smartphone, tablet, web and virtual reality. This is a pioneering experience in Spain that has involved the digitization of 4 floors and 40 exhibition rooms of the museum.
The creators of the project seek to offer a more interactive and enriching museum experience. In addition, with the new application they want to take the extensive heritage that the museum houses to any place in the world. The virtual visit presents more than 13,000 archaeological works and objects from the museum's collection As we mentioned, 4 floors of the building and 40 permanent exhibition rooms have been digitized.
The application MAN Virtual allows us to tour the rooms and expand the information on the works with 3,802 points of interest These show explanations of the works, illustrations, maps or videos. Also links to the corporate database CER.ES (Colecciones en Red) of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports to obtain extended information.
The “MAN Virtual” app is available via smartphone, tablet, Samsung Gear VR and web version. Thus, we can visit the National Archaeological Museum, from home or another place. Also schedule our visit to the museum.
To create the project 404 panoramas have been made, for which more than 15,000 photographs have been taken In addition, advanced techniques have been used in the realization and post-production to eliminate the reflections of the exhibition windows. Virtual reality content made to be enjoyed with Samsung Gear VR is also included. Specifically, 11 VR panoramas of museum rooms are shown. These have been made in stereoscopy, allowing an immersion with greater volume and realism.
The application offers a free tour of the different floors and rooms. But also three thematic routes that guide the visit focused on the figure of women with the “Museo en Femenino”, a journey through the “Music in the Museum” and “Archaeology of Death”.On the other hand, Samsung and the National Archaeological Museum have signed a collaboration agreement to bring the technology to the museum.
