The YouTube app now supports widescreen
Table of contents:
YouTube is one of the best streaming video services, it allows us to view content for free, and with a lot of variety. This famous platform is constantly updated. Although it is not to incorporate new features, they do manage to polish some aspects, and optimize it according to the new Android design, and the trends of 2017. And trends, we are talking about screens with hardly any framesand of that format that began at the Mobile World Congress, with the LG G6.
Finally, YouTube adapts to the 18:9 format, this format included in most high-end devices. It makes the height of the screen much longer than the width of the screen, achieving a better experience when the device is in the vertical position. Until now, YouTube did not natively include the possibility of adapting videos to the 18:9 format. Some manufacturers like Samsung or LG had to add a small floating button so that the videos could cover the entire screen. Now it is much easier. We just have to make a pincer gesture from the center of the video to the outside, and we will see how the video is cropped and adapts to the entire screen.
Videos in 18:9, the best solution.
Unfortunately, this has some drawbacks. The first is by making the video fill the entire screen. Sometimes it is cut, and we lose ( although it is little) part of the video. The second drawback is that it only allows us to adapt it so that it covers the entire screen. Samsung, for example, allowed us different modes to choose the one we liked the most. Although without a doubt, they are good news. 18:9 screens are already a standard in the high-end range and soon they will be in the mid-range. The interesting thing would be for content creators to upload their videos in 18:9 format. Once this is done, adapt the video format to other screens of different formats. We will have to see if Google thinks about this, and decides to implement a feature to make videos compatible.
