The Korean company Samsung has created an educational application that aims to raise awareness about equality in the distribution of household chores. It is called Equal HouseWork and it has served to launch a campaign in the Granada municipality of Jun.
There are no more excuses for equal distribution of tasks
Despite numerous cultural and social advances, there remains a large imbalance between the contributions of men and women to the household. To mention an example, only 3 out of 10 men in Spain use the washing machine on a regular basis.
This is a data confirmed by an Ipsos Connect study carried out for Samsung. To respond to the situation, the company created the YaNoHayExcusas campaign last May. The original idea was focused on Samsung AddWash washing machines.
But later the campaign has been expanded to continue raising awareness about the importance of equality in household chores. To do this, they have used an application called Equal HouseWork and have analyzed the results in the municipality of Jun, in Granada.

The Equal HouseWork app has been running since May 2017, and Samsung enlisted the help of the people of Jun, Grenada for the campaign. The app allows you to create a fun competition between the members of the couple to promote an equitable distribution of household chores.
At Equal HouseWork there is a button that the man or woman must press every time he starts the washing machine. After the campaign period with the app, in June the distribution was much more balanced: men installed 48% of the washing machines, compared to 52% who put the women.
Logically, there is still a lot of work to be done, but the improvement is significant. Let us not forget that the average data in Spain, according to the study mentioned above, place the figures with a much greater advantage: only 30% of men regularly use washing machines.
