Google Photos is updated to recognize your pet
Table of contents:
When we talk about facial recognition we often forget that our pets also have faces. Who hasn't tried applying one of the Instagram masks on the face of their self-sacrificing cat or dog? The results, when achieved, are truly priceless. And this is how Google Photos has supposed it, which, in its most recent update, will be able to recognize the face of your most beloved dog or that cat that accompanies you... only when he wants, of course.
Google Photos will recognize your dog among others
Relatively recently, Google Photos began to pull out its weapons in terms of artificial intelligence, recognizing the people we had in our snapshots. Thus, grouped the photos in the same section, so that we would have an easier task of sharing those same photos with them. The user simply had to assign the corresponding contact to that familiar face ordered by Google Photos. And, then, send a notification so that the recipient could comfortably see, on his phone, the photos that were competing with him or that you wanted him to enjoy too.
Exactly the same will now be done by Google Photos with pets. It will track among the photos that we have taken of cats, dogs and others, it will identify their faces and group them so that, thus, we have them more orderly. Before, to find the photos of our cat, we had to type 'Cat' in the search bar.Now this work will be done by the application for you. Once grouped, you must associate that animal with its name. Once you do, you'll be able to search for it by name instead of typing 'Cat' or 'Dog'.
And not only that: now, we will be able to find dogs by their breed: whether they are pugs or labradors, chow chows or akitas, your phone will distinguish the breeds that even you cannot. This is how Google demonstrates what its artificial intelligence is capable of, while observing how many other brands pick up a run, such as Huawei with its new Huawei Mate 10. The neural network of its new Kirin 970 processor will be able to distinguish more than 2,000 images per minute. And all this with no help other than the mobile itself, without the need for additional computers.
The Google Assistant will also create movies with your pets. Thus, you can have a time line of your life on your mobile, to which you can add music of your choice. Of course, get ready to cry.
How to tag people in Google Photos
Before we referred to the tagging of our pets, for a later search. Because it will always be better to be able to name our dog than simply dog. With people, of course, we can also do it. It's really useful to be able to put the name of our partner or best friend and, voila, there we have all their photos. Many do not know how to do a process that is really simple. So we are going to offer you a small tutorial so that you can identify, with first and last names, all the people who appear in your photos.
- First, of course, you must have the Google Photos application installed on your mobile. If it doesn't come pre-installed on your phone, download it directly from the Android app store. With it, you'll have infinite free storage for all your photos (as long as you don't save them at their original size).
- Once the application is installed, we look at the icon bar at the bottom of it. We see four icons: Assistant, Photos, Albums and Share. Click on 'albums'.
- On the 'albums' screen we have to locate the album corresponding to 'People'. You will find the folder gallery at the top of the screen.
- Once you have located it, open it. Choose any photo and, once opened, you can place the name of the person that appears in the photo. Just start typing the name and Google autocomplete will do the rest.
And that's it: from now on you can find your friends by name. And this is how Google Photos takes advantage of artificial intelligence. What does the future hold for the Internet giant in this field? What comes next will undoubtedly be exciting.
