How to block tweets that have 280 characters on Twitter
Table of contents:
Twitter announced a few days ago the extension of characters of its publications, also known as 'Tweets'. A decision that has not been without controversy, since many of the users have taken it as a 'betrayal' of the original spirit of the microblogging network. If someone wants to write more, they argue, they can open a personal journal, or they can convey the same idea. According to this type of tweeters, it is not necessary to 'distort' the original concept of Twitter, increasing the size of the tweets.Twitter, for its part, alleges that the difference between languages is what has led to this change. For the same tweet and, depending on the language used, more or fewer characters will be needed. And in Spanish you usually need a lot more than, for example, in Japanese.
Do you reject 280-character tweets? You can now block them
As we have learned thanks to the technological information page The Next Web, all those Twitter users who refuse to accept the change can have it really easy. And they will have it easy because there is a way for tweets that contain 280 characters to be automatically blocked. It's all thanks to a Google Chrome plugin aptly named Block280. To install this plugin you obviously need to navigate with Google Chrome. Then go to the official plugin page, download and install it.
From that moment on, when a 280-character tweet appears on your timeline it will appear as 'Blocked': that is, you will be notified that there is content but this will remain hidden from view.
If it's something you really can't deal with on Twitter, luckily we've found a very suitable tool. Surely, over time and when users get used to it, 280-character tweets will be our daily bread. But, while that happens, it's nice to have a small utility on hand that avoids these, for some, annoying extensions.
