Uber loses license to operate in London
Table of contents:
The controversial transport company Uber will lose its license to operate its services in London as of September 30. This is how we were able to find out through an official tweet from the London transport information company TFL (Tranports for London). We reproduce the tweet in its entirety below.

The reasons given to revoke Uber's license in the capital of England are clear and all of them are related to the safety of travelers. Thus, in the TFL report we can read the following:
“Uber is neither suitable nor appropriate to hold a private rental operator license. TFL believes that the company's conduct and attitude demonstrate a lack of corporate responsibility, in relation to a number of issues that may have potential implications for public safety."
Other serious security breaches include:
- Uber's position on reporting serious criminal offences.
- The company's approach to obtaining medical certificates for its drivers.
- How the company obtains the list of possible criminal records of its drivers.
From this moment, the company has up to 21 days to appeal the decision. A hard blow to the transport service to which must be added a series of scandals that have been suffering for years. Among these, an excessively macho advertising campaign, complaints of sexual harassment by its senior managers, and even the 'voluntary discharge' of its CEO, Travis Kalanick, due to various behavioral problems.
With this new blow, Uber must leave one of the most important cities in which it operated in just over 20 days. We will continue to be aware of how the information unfolds and we are waiting to see if, in the end, Uber stays in London or ends up packing its bags.
