This is the new Google Maps location menu
Table of contents:
The latest update of Google Maps for Android has brought us a complete revision of the location menu In this new menu we are shown our location, allows us to share our location and carry out actions related to our surroundings.
The Google navigation app has not stopped updating throughout this past year. In the last beta we were able to discover some of its new functions, such as including a small window with our route even if we leave the app, or access to relative statistics to our driving. The latest update however takes care of making interface changes.
A new menu, same options
Until now, when we clicked on the blue dot of our location, a lower blind opened where we were allowed to access nearby sites, restaurants or shopsWe were also offered the option of saving our parking space, a very useful option when we don't know the area where we have parked. In addition, we could share our location with other users, calibrate the compass or report a problem.
What we find now is a blue menu where it shows us in a slightly more visual way, the most options. Above, below our photo, we see our location, the possibility of sharing it, nearby places and the possibility of saving the place where we have parkedThe options to calibrate compass or report a problem are relegated to the bottom of the screen, assuming that they are functions that are not used as frequently.
The main novelty, apart from the new design, is that we now see our profile photo, and if we click on it, we can access our public profile . There we will know which of our data is visible to the whole world.
The rest, the operation of parking save, location sharing or compass calibration, work in the same way as before, without any change in the interfaceWe are therefore facing a simple review of the design, maintaining the now characteristic blue color that already predominates in a large part of Google products, in its Android version.
We still have to see how some other options from the leaked betas are coming to Google Maps. Thanks to its constant updating, it has become the most complete and practical navigation app.
