Soon you will be able to control the speed of YouTube videos from your mobile
Table of contents:
According to Google's specialized technology news page, 9 to 5 Google, the Internet giant is testing new speed controls for videos in its YouTube mobile application. At the moment, this new function would only be available to a certain group of users. This strategy is recurring when testing future functions. Until they are given the go-ahead through their use by a group of people, they are not released to the rest of the population.
Rewind and fast forward YouTube videos in the app
YouTube video speed control is possible from the desktop version. It is in the app version where this functionality did not yet exist. Something, without a doubt, tremendously useful. Imagine that we want to search for a point in a video of about five minutes. Click on the video gear and click 'Speed'. In the pop-up window, a series of values appears that we can modify in order to speed up the video.
For the video application we assume the same speed values as in the desktop version. You can, on the one hand, reduce the speed of the video in three values: 0.25, 0.5 and 0.75. And, on the other, advance it by 1.25, 1.5 or 2. There are certain users, therefore, who are beginning to report that, in the app's videos from YouTube, this new speed option is starting to appear. In the case of the app, we have it in the three-point menu that accompanies any video we play. Here we see how we can report the video, choose its playback quality, see it on the Google cardboard and a series of help and suggestions.
Being able to manage the time of a YouTube video with such low speed can be, a priori, somewhat frustrating. It's not like we're rewinding a VHS tape. But it can be very useful in short videos, to skip a part that doesn't interest us but without skipping the images.
According to the web editor himself, it was on his Google Pixel terminal where the new function appeared. Only he seemed to enjoy it. Does this mean that they are just tests or that they will be released soon?
