Everything you need to know about WhatsApp States
Table of contents:
One of the most controversial decisions of the Zuckerberg emporium was to add a function to WhatsApp, until now, intended for social networks. Snapchat marked the full stop. He pulled out the ‘Stories‘,small clips that remained available for 24 hours and then disappeared. Thus, we shared our life live, applying filters and masks, stickers and emoticons.
Zuckerberg leered at Snapchat.he wanted to buy it and ran headlong against fate: the owners of Snapchat closed in on each other. The subsequent movements of the Facebook CEO can be classified, without fear of being wrong, as morally dubious. He applied on Instagram, which he owns, Snapchat stories. He copied them, literally.
And that was just at the beginning. He then began to implant the 'stories' in all of his applications. In addition to Instagram, he posted them on Facebook, on Messenger... In the midst of this maelstrom, the CEO of Facebook could not think of anything else but to shoehorn it into WhatsApp. Why should we have Stories on WhatsApp? No, they are not 'Stories', they are 'States'... And we are going to tell you everything we know about them.
Everything you need to know about WhatsApp States
First of all, we must clarify that WhatsApp 'States' are far from being similar 'States' to what we see in other messaging services, such as the extinct Microsoft Messenger. Before, the states were small phrases that summarized, more or less, our state of mind. That phrase, too, could refer to so many other things, whatever you could express. WhatsApp 'States' are stories, exactly the same as those of Snapchat and InstagramYou record a small clip, upload it, share it, and after 24 hours it disappears.
How to create a WhatsApp status
If you want to create a new WhatsApp status, go to the central column of the statuses and press the green circular icon that you see on the lower part of it.
On the screen that you can see you can make the video, holding down the button or the photo, with a touch, that you want to share with your contacts. You can switch between rear and front cameras, turn the flash on or off.
Once the photo is taken, we can edit it: crop and rotate it, add emoticons, text, drawings... When you're done, press the send arrow.Your status will appear, updated, at the top of the screen Below you can see recent statuses created by your contacts and those already viewed.
How to select the recipient of my status
Throughout our lives, we store hundreds and hundreds of phone numbers of people who, over time, are no longer part of our lives. That is why when we create a state it will be convenient for us to select well with whom you want to make it visible. To do this, just you must place yourself in the status column and, by pressing the three-point menu, select 'State privacy'. Here select between ‘My contacts’, ‘My contacts except…’ and ‘Only share with…’.
This is how you make sure that no one you don't want can see the statuses you upload to your profile. It is very simple, as you can see in the following screenshot.
How to reply to a WhatsApp status
If you want to reply to a status of a contact in WhatsApp, place yourself in said status and you will see, at the bottom of the screen , the option, 'Reply'.
Once you have pressed it, a pop-up window will open in which you can write the text or the smiley of your choice. To send the message, just tap the green arrow that appears to the right of the message.
Where did my answer go? Well, you can see it in the chat window of the recipient of the message. WhatsApp does not have a specific screen where you can comment on statuses and what it does, strictly speaking, is send the status to the person along with the reply It's not exactly like ' reply', it's more of a resend status with reply, but it's the only way to do it.
How to mute the statuses of a certain contact
The states of our contacts do not have to be all to our liking, and that is why WhatsApp gives us the possibility to silence them so that they do not appear on our 'wall'. To silence the states of certain WhatsApp contacts we have to go to any of their states and press the three-point menu. The only option that will appear is to 'mute'.
If you click on that option, from then on, any status that person creates will appear in a new section within the column of States, called Silenced. If you want to reactivate the state, do the reverse process again.
How to pause and switch between states
If you want to pause a status so you don't miss anything they're telling you, just place your finger on the screen. On the contrary, if you want to go from that state to the next, simply tap on the screen. If you want to go back to a previous state, tap on the left side of the screen.
How to view old statuses
If you want to see the old phrases of your WhatsApp contacts, you just have to enter the chat column and press the green text message icon that you have at the bottom of the screen. Here you will see the list of contacts with their usual states. There's no way to turn states off, so you'll have to get used to that tab.
How to see a WhatsApp status without anyone knowing
To be able to see a WhatsApp status without the contact who has made the status knowing, you must deactivate the blue double check, the one that tells you if someone has read a message. To deactivate the blue check, you must go to the three-point menu. Then settings>account>privacy>read receipts.
How to know who has viewed one of my statuses
Another extremely simple trick. To find out who has seen your WhatsApp status, you just have to open the status. Then, look at the bottom, at the icon of the little eye. Expand that screen and you will see, in lists, all the contacts that have seen your profile.
