Where the WhatsApp clip has gone and other recent changes
Table of contents:
The most used instant messaging service worldwide, WhatsApp, is constantly being renewed. There have been numerous changes in a very short period of time, so we have decided to compile, in a single article, some of the most notorious. Like, for example, the location of the share button. Where is the icon that helped us share contacts, location or photos?
Recent changes in WhatsApp
Where is the WhatsApp clip?
Not too long ago, when we wanted to share a photo or video, a contact's phone number or our location with our contacts, our view would go to the top of the app. There was the little button, in the form of a clip, to share everything. But one day, suddenly, he disappeared. And, without eating or drinking it, now we found it at the opposite end.
Now, if we want to share something, we have to go to the bar where we write the messages. We see the symbol of the emoticons, and on the other side, the clip. A much more logical place, since when writing we have it at hand If we press, we see the six categories we all know. So now we have the WhatsApp clip right at the bottom of the app.
Let the old states return… again
WhatsApp messed things up when it eliminated the user 'status', those phrases, like the old Messenger, that could give clues about our availability. Instead, he brought us the 'stories', those little clips or photos, decked out with stickers, texts and masks, that narrated our lives and disappeared after 24 hoursZuckerberg seemed obsessed with that feature: first Instagram, then Facebook, which was a huge flop, and then WhatsApp.
What was the point of these statuses in a messaging service? Few or none. For this reason, and after numerous protests, the old states returned... Without the new ones disappearing. Now, in the contacts menu, we can see the 'status' of our telephone contacts. To change the WhatsApp status, the traditional one, you must go to the menu of WhatsApp on the chat screen, then press settings, ending in your photo. Here, in 'Info and phone number' you can put the phrase you want. And forget about ‘stories’.
Where is my contact list?
And come redesign, and another tweak here, and now we place the clip below... And where has the list of contacts gone? If you get confused and want to locate your schedule at the moment, you just have to pay attention, on the 'CHATS' screen, to the icon at the bottom Yes, the one in the form of 'instant message'.
If you press it, it will take you directly to the old contacts screen Here you can update the contacts you add and create a new group. It is certainly not the most intuitive place to put our phone book, but that's how things are.
The Next Big Change: Editing and Deleting Sent Messages
One of the functions that is most expected, and which may be the one that caused the last big crash of the application, is being able to edit and delete messages that we have sent. Some of these messages, especially those sent in a state of anger or drunkenness, may be erased from the face of the earth without the user getting to read them.
Photo albums come to WhatsApp
Although, a priori, this new function is another of Zuckerberg's, we found something really useful and that many of us have loved. Now, when we receive or send more than 5 photos at a time, WhatsApp will automatically detect them and convert them into an album: we'll see the first ones and then, a thumbnail with the number of photos remaining. It is exactly as we already see on Facebook.
So we will no longer see the usual string of photos, but they will all be conveniently grouped. A very practical way to view photos and not have to scroll down the screen.
Share location… in real time
We have all shared our location through WhatsApp. It was the easiest way to tell someone where we were at that moment. But, what if we want to inform someone where we are at all times? And if you want to keep an eye on a family member, minor or sick, and always have it located? Well, in the next updates we can have this function activated. And yes, don't worry, it can be deactivated.

Share videos... in another way
Sharing videos on WhatsApp is now much easier. Before, you could only edit the video if it was recorded from the camera that was embedded in the application. Now, whether you do it with the Google camera or with the one that comes pre-installed on your terminal, you can share and edit: cut, add texts, emoticons... WhatsApp thus turns the act of sharing a video into a much friendlier action, since we do not always make the video at the time of sharing it and we do not use the app's camera to do so.
Pin your important chats… with a thumbtack
A very recent function that has delighted especially the most addicted to WhatsApp. Imagine having dozens and dozens of open chat windows. The list of them can be overwhelming. Now imagine that you talk to the same person or group every day. It can be your boyfriend, a family or work group... And, sometimes, he gets lost among the rest. As you know, the app sorts your conversations in chronological order. That's why thumbtacks arrive to save us all. Above all, to fans of order.
To pin chats on the main screen, just press and hold the contact or group you want to pin and press the pushpin iconthat you can see at the top of the screen. You'll find it right next to the trash and mute icon. Now, no matter how little you talk to that person, they will always appear at the top.
Changing the text format... much easier
It does nothing, if we wanted to write something in bold or italics we had to be placing asterisks and hyphens at the beginning and end of sentences. Now, WhatsApp has improved this feature quite a bit, making it much more affordable.
When you want to send a message in rich text format, just select it completely and press the three-dot menu that appears in the pop-up menu , next to the 'Cut, copy and paste' options. In the dropdown, select the format you want. The message will be sent directly the way you selected it.
