If you've bought a Samsung Galaxy S8 and you're willing to get the most out of it, you're interested in putting its new button to real use. And it is that on the left side Samsung has included a new button to launch its intelligent assistant Bixby. The only problem is that this tool is not quite finished and outlined yet. Well, that and Samsung has blocked almost any attempt to redefine this button for another function. However, there are developers who have created tools to take advantage of it
The application in question is called Bixremap and it bypasses the prohibitions for the side button of the Samsung Galaxy S8. Focuses on giving access to Google Now. In other words, Google's own assistant, much more advanced.
How to install
The process does not require any root access or preparation. Just a couple of configuration steps to activate its operation and to be able to launch Google Now instead of Bixby every time the button is pressed.
The first thing, of course, is to download and install the application through the Google Play Store. It is completely free and contains no in-app purchases of any kind.
After that, it's time to access the terminal's permissions. To do this, all you have to do is start Bixremap, where the permission to access usage data or application usage historyis requested.
Finally, once again in the application, all that remains is to click on the Start Service button. This way the app does its job. From then on, every time the button is pressed, the Google assistant and not the Samsung assistant appears on the screen.
How does it work
To bypass Samsung's restrictions, the developer has come up with an intelligent operation. Simply, when the mobile detects the launch of Bixby, it is in charge of executing Google Now. One application over the other. It's not the most efficient and beautiful, but you can't ask for more from an application developed in 20 minutes. At the moment it is functional for all those who think that Bixby is dysfunctional. Of course, Samsung may soon create some limitation for this tool.
