A completely free manual camera application
Table of contents:
It's hard to find a full-featured camera app on the Android app store that's completely free. The creator only asks for a donation if you liked it. That's all. It does not have, payments within the app, nothing. Download and use. It is an open source application and its name is Open Camera. It is developed by Mark Harman and is worth taking a look at.
Let's go with the review of this application, which surprises us with the number of functions it has while, we repeat, totally free.
Open Camera, manual settings in a free app
As always, to enjoy Open Camera, we go to the app store, download and install it.
Once opened, we find the image viewer, a blue camera icon that will serve as the trigger, and a series of settings at the top of it. We are going to detail what we can do with all these adjustments, to get the most out of the vacation photos. Let's start.
- The first setting corresponds to the switch between main and front camera. It has no more mystery and is exactly the same as all the ones we see in similar applications.
- Again, a switch between photo and video camera. Simply click on the second icon and easily switch between snapshots and movie capture.
- Exposure: If you want to add or decrease brightness to the scene, this is the setting you'll have to deal with. On the left, darker image. On the right, brighter.
- Lock: Once you have decided what exposure you want for the photo, you can lock it by pressing this button.
Three-dot menu
Here we are going to stop a little more, because it is where the bulk of the settings are. If we click on the menu of three points, we will find:
- Flash mode: no flash, auto flash, always on flash or flashlight.
- Autofocus: shoot and go. Don't worry about in-focus and out-of-focus areas. Ideal setting for automatic mode.
- Macro Mode: Choose this option for typical close-up photos. Flowers, small objects, focus on the foreground and blur the rest…
- Focus Lock: If you want to leave the adjusted macro unchanged, choose this setting.
- Infinity Focus: when you want your image to have a great depth of field. This means that everything in the photo will be in focus, both objects in the foreground and those in the background.
- Manual focus: Choose with your finger what you want to focus and leave the rest out of focus. Ideal for experimenting with a three-dimensional sensation or closeness.
- Continuous Focus: Perfect for keeping moving objects or people in perfect focus.
- Photo Mode: Choose from Standard, DRO, HDR, or Exposure Bracket. Let's say the DRO is a bit smoother HDR.
- Auto-Stabilizer: More focused moving images.
Next, you can choose the resolution of the camera and video, the timer and bursts, the grid to better frame the subjects.
- White balance: to make the colors of the photo appear natural. You can play with the balance to create nice effects.
- Scene Mode: Landscape, Snow, Beach, Sunrise…
- Color effect: monochrome, negative, sepia, posterized…
Gear Icon
Finally, we have a settings menu in which we can activate face detection, touch the screen to take a photo, shutter sound, voice self-timer, location stamping... A lot of settings that, We recommend that you investigate.
Open Camera app is very stable and works perfectly. It goes without saying that your camera must have manual settings to get the most out of this magnificent free camera application.
