Facebook Messenger will use robots to tell you what you need
Table of contents:
Although this is a function that we have already had in Facebook Messenger for some time, the main novelty is that these robots will be specific to the groups that we create in the application. As we read on the TechCrunch news page, these Messenger bots will keep the members of the group in question informed, sending news in real time. The news would be about sports results, parcel deliveries and many more.
To this end, Facebook is working hand in hand with the most cutting-edge companies in the sector. In this direction, Mark Zuckerberg's social network will open its API to all those developers who were working on the project. In addition, the Messenger bots would be highly segmented according to the type of group that was created, in order to offer a better service.
Custom robots for everyone
A clear example for all of you to understand: imagine that a group for football fans is created. The admin could add a Messenger bot to keep them informed of any changes in the result of a match, relevant plays or any other related information. A work group of an online store could follow up, day by day, any large order that has been made, informing about the day of shipment and delivery.
In fact, and if we stick to the information released by Facebook, these would not really be bots, but rather a news and card manager like Google Now. We would not be able to chat or interact with them. In any case, Facebook still has a long way to go in the field of bots. There is no section in the app where we can find them: we have to search for them with the exact name. For example, Poncho is a bot that informs you, daily, about the weather. If you want to have access to it, you must write 'Poncho' in the search engine.
What we are absolutely certain of is that, in the very near future, we will talk to machines with incredibly realistic results. Messenger bots have only just begun.
