Instagram offline: the app tests offline features

Instagram is experimenting with a very interesting and expected function: the possibility to use the app without an Internet connection.

The Instagram social network has already started testing to activate certain offline features in the app. The idea is to allow users to interact with the content at any time, even if they don't have Internet access.
Although the exact details have not yet been revealed, you can try to guess how it works. The application may use the information stored in its cache to continue displaying photos and videos to the user.
In the event that there is no Internet connection, we can still send comments or "like" the photos. When we regain access to the Web, Instagram will deliver all those messages.
It has not been confirmed yet if we will be able to prepare photos or videos of ourselves for Instagram to automatically upload when online.

Facebook Lite, Facebook's simplified mobile app, is proving quite successful. Lite works even on slow connections and continues to display content when the mobile does not have Internet access. The application already has more than 200 million active users.
It looks like the new Instagram feature would try to target precisely users with slow or unstable connections. If the tests are successful, they will soon be rolled out to all app users globally.
