Several weeks ago, thanks to WABetaInfo leaks, we learned of an incipient feature on WhatsApp. It is neither more nor less than locating the contacts of the application on a map. Of course, in a controlled and more or less secure and private way. Now, after the latest updates of the application, we know new details about it.
The function, which could be called Live Location (live location), will be part of the group information. In this way, and as long as users keep said function active, it will be possible to consult where they are. To do this, a map locates them, knowing where each one is chatting from. Something that can also be useful for meetings or simply to have more contextual information for the chat.

Renewed groups
The new function comes along with the renewal of the group information page And it is that WhatsApp is working on giving a new aspect to this type of chats. On the one hand there is the new button with which to share a link as an invitation to the group. The way to change the name and photo of the group has also been modified. But the most striking are the new icons that are added to the different options such as muting or checking the encryption of the chat.Something more recognizable for iOS users, who already have similar icons in the terminal settings.
The new Live Location feature is hidden behind an icon on the chat info screen. When pressed, a map is displayed where the rest of the chat members are located. Of course, they must have said function active. Otherwise, they do not appear on the map, leaving your saved location safe.

Of course, for the moment this function is still hidden, even for beta or test users. It will arrive with next updates in the following weeks, no date set yet.
