- Footej Camera in depth: get the most out of your photos
- Settings overview
- Manual mode: where the magic begins
We present an application with which you can get the most out of your Android camera. Of course, make sure that yours is compatible with the new 2 Google APIe. It's not that Footej Camera won't work, but you won't get it the same match. The application is free although with purchases inside it. Let's see, in detail, what the Footej Camera offers us.
Footej Camera in depth: get the most out of your photos
Although it is an application that has not been updated for a long time, we have tested it and we conclude that it is one of the best in its field. Both by interface and by results. Of course, it requires your skill and knowledge when it comes to taking good images. Always remember that who takes the photos is you.
Once we have downloaded Footej Camera from the store, we install it and open it. As always, the typical camera interface will open before us. Let's break it down in parts.
Hamburger menu
Above right we see the typical hamburger menu. If we click on it, the options of photo camera, video, gallery and purchases will be displayed And they serve the same purpose: choose between photo and video cameras, access the photos we have taken with the application (in addition to the rest of the snapshots) and a store where you can unlock the premium options, which are:
- Burst photos in less than 500 milliseconds
- Maximum 20 shots per burst, a remarkable option to bring moving scenes into focus
- Best Quality in JPEG
- Antibanding (elimination of degraded effect at 50Hz and 60Hz)
- Unlimited time Video recording
- Histogram on image
- Animated GIFs in high resolution
All this premium package can be yours for a price of 2 euros. Our advice: squeeze the free service first and then assess whether it is worth the outlay.
Still, we believe that a couple of euros is well worth it for the extras and the work done.
Next to the hamburger menu, we find the switch between photo and video cameras. Nothing more to note, except that you can change the setting quickly in this shortcut.
Settings overview
At the top right we see, grouped horizontally, all the adjustments that will be applied to the photo that you are going to make.
- Shutter Speed: If you have auto mode, it will tell you what speed will be applied depending on the scene in focus. The less light there is, the longer the shutter time will be to collect enough light.
- ISO: sensitivity of 'negative'. The higher this number is, the more light will enter the scene. If it is in automatic mode, forget about this.
- HDR Switcher, Burst, One Shot and RAW File Download
- White Balance: adjusts the picture according to the light conditions (cloudy, tungsten, bulb, auto)
- Three-point menu. Here we stop to delve into all the possibilities offered by the camera in manual mode.
Manual mode: where the magic begins
By clicking on the three-dot menu, we find
- Cell Panel: turn on the grid to let the app help you frame your subject
- Timer: in case you want to take a photo with a tripod or in a group
- White Balance: Choose between cloudy, sunny, fluorescent, or bulb. Feel free to experiment and change to get different results.
- Exposure: When you read exposure think about light. You can put it automatic and avoid problems. We recommend manual (ME). Here you can change the shutter speed and ISO value. The best way to learn is to look at the screen and see the changes when you move one value and another.
- Focus: toggles between automatic and manual. If you prefer to focus on the subject manually, move the wheel and apply the appropriate distance.
- HDR: here we find a somewhat disaster section. You can choose whether to HDR or not HDR, burst, single shot and save copy in RAW. What this RAW? Well, a format that would be as if you had the undeveloped negative of the photograph. Then, with editing apps, you can digitally 'reveal' them and get the most out of them.
Do not hesitate to save the photos you take in Google Photos later, as it is a service that gives you unlimited storage. And now, go outside and start shooting!
