At Niantic they continue to look for formulas to win over Pokémon GO players. Or at least to make them come back after the frenzy of its launch, back in June 2016. They have tried it with the second generation of Pokémon, and they also rely on special events. After Christmas and Valentine's Day, the company now celebrates Pokémon Day And it will be possible to catch a new variation of Pikachu: Pikachu wearing party hats.
Pokémon Day, or Pokémon Day will take place next Monday, February 27 And it is not a mere publicity gesture. It commemorates the launch of the first Pokémon game in the Asian market in 1996. It should not be forgotten that for the past few months, The Pokémon Company and Nintendo have been celebrating the 20th anniversary of the saga. A noteworthy fact for a game that has been a success around the world and in different formats. And they also want to celebrate with Pokémon GO players.
Pikachu and his hat
At the moment no images have been leaked, but there will be special Pikachus to celebrate PokémonDay. And when we say special we mean variations with party hats. Or at least that is what Niantic has confirmed in its press release.
From February 27 until March 6, there will be festive Pikachus populating the lands of Pokémon GO. Something very similar to what happened at Christmas, when it was possible to find Pikachu wearing a Santa Claus hat.
The operation will remain the same. The player only has to walk around his environment to find this new variation. The good thing is that these party hats (presumably there will be more than one according to Niantic's note), will stay on said Pikachu forever. Even if it evolves into its Raichu form Something like a throwback to when the franchise celebrated its 20th anniversary.
