Today we bring you a rather peculiar game, and surely different from what you are used to. It's called The End of the World and it focuses on exploring the darkest depths of heartbreak. No, no, it's not a poetic exaggeration: this game seeks to revive melancholy in its purest state, transporting us to a world that is falling apart while we can only remember others happier times.
Sad to the end
When we start playing, after a brief introduction about the movement possibilities (which are two: move to the sides or perform actions by pressing objects), we start the game by waking up in bed.A grey, messy room, and only a clock that rings If we press it, we can see, with sad music and some red colors that will illuminate the scene, how happy that we were before with our partner.
When we let go of our finger, we go back to being the dull, faceless character wandering around her floor. We can carry out actions such as putting on our clothes, having a coffee for breakfast, sitting down to meditate or taking the elevator to go outside, always in absolute silence.
When we go outside we find ourselves in a deserted city, in ruins, where the only action we can take is enter places that remind us of happy times past , times that are gone. Every time we reach a memory scene, we fade to black and wake up again in our room.
With each awakening, we find ourselves with a more destroyed environment, to the point that in the end we don't know if we really find ourselves in an external scenario , or if everything happens inside the character's head.
In the last level, the protagonistwill come face to face with the memory of his beloved and fight to reach it,to recover that part of his happiness that was lost. If you want to know what happens at the end, we encourage you to download the game. The End of the World is free for Android, and costs 1 euro for the iOS version. Do you dare to explore the saddest side of the heart?
