Snapchat prepares augmented reality improvements
After the continued flight of users to Instagram, Snapchat prepares heavy artillery and is preparing improvements focused on taking advantage of augmented reality . We already have timid close-ups through what they themselves called “World Lenses”: work just like selfie filters but, with these special lenses, we can interact with our environment: from »making» clouds that vomit rainbows, fill the environment with cute stuffed animals riding with balloons, even sending moving hearts to that co-worker that you "adore" so much.
And the clouds vomited rainbows into the sky
However, this is nothing more than a somewhat 'sui generis' version of augmented reality, since all it does is add an extra layer to our reality, being unable to detect objects and interact with them. In this field, the company Snap, inc. Being able to give life to elements of nature, such as making the clouds in the sky themselves the that vomit rainbows, and not ones created and designed especially for the occasion.
At the moment, little else is known about this new advance in augmented reality It is not known if the user will apply the filter in the objects you want, or they will appear automatically in some selected ones. The only thing that has transpired, so far, is that Snapchat is doing tests internally and, the rest, pure secrecy. Will we see something really revolutionary in terms of applications with augmented reality? Will they be able to recover all the users who fled to Instagram to test their Stories and their ephemeral messages?
News on Snapchat: continuous but few
Very recently we told you that Snapchat had modified its interface to make it more user-friendly, unifying its different screens so that usability was more fluent. A change, however, that is not attractive enough to face the tremendous transfer of users that the company has suffered since Instagram decided to copy its section of Stories.A movement highly criticized by some, praised by others, and which Snapchat has to face if it wants to recover the glory of yesteryear.
As soon as Snapchat publishes the necessary documentation to go public, the data that has come to light reflects a highly Delicate: viewing Snapchat stories would have dropped up to 40% from the appearance of the new Instagram functionality. Whatever happens with the ghost app as soon as Facebookimplant your own stories is an absolute mystery.
This new advance in the field of augmented reality could bring Snapchat a good injection of users and return to the Olympus to which it belonged once. For a while, that application that no one over 30 knew how to use was the queen of teenagers. But having Instagram this same utility, no one was going to pass up the opportunity to communicate those same stories with their largest number of followers.
Will Snapchat be able to reclaim the throne of teen apps with this augmented reality enhancement?
