The Google app already notifies you when it has new doodles

Surely you have noticed that Google modifies the appearance of its logo in the search engine to celebrate important days, and even creates fun minigames with sound on some occasions. These changes are known as "doodles", a term that in English refers to "drawing" or "scribble" and which by extension also applies to these illustrations and special animations.

Until now, the best way to find out about these news was to enter the search engine, but Google now allows you to configure a new setting in the application mobile with which we can receive notifications every time there is a new doodle.

Personalized notifications arrive in the Google app

For a long time it has been impossible to access advanced notification settings in the Google application that would allow you to customize settings and receive alerts every time something happened related to the search engine that might interest us. There were also not many possibilities to reduce or eliminate notifications that do pop up by default, such as changes in temperatures from one day to the next.

However, new versions of Google will introduce new notification settings, including one that will cause a lot of interest among users : the possibility of receiving notifications on the smartphone every time the search engine shows a new doodle.

At the moment, this new section of Notifications only shows a toggle to turn doodle notifications on or off, but it's very likely that in the future we can access more options to receive notifications on the topics that interest us the most.These changes are now available in the Google app for the Android operating system

How to activate doodle notifications in the Google app

First of all, it is recommended that you check the version of the application you have installed. Go to Google Play to check if an update is available and if there is, install it.

Once this step has been taken, you just have to enter the Google screen (which you can find if you scroll to the last screen on the left on your smartphone Android) and display the side menu by clicking on the icon in the upper left corner. Select Settings > Notifications and toggle the switch for Doodles

Once this switch is turned on, you will receive notifications on your smartphone Android whenever Google post a new doodle, either illustrated, animated, or with a minigame.

If this option is not available yet, you will have to wait a few days until the server activates this possibility for you as well.

How to receive notifications on your computer

If you use Google Chrome as your primary browser on your computer, you can also receive on-screen notifications when Google have a new doodle. Just install the Google Doodle Notifier plugin, available from the Chrome Store

As for the application for iOS, it is very likely that it will begin to incorporate these changes soon and that the option of notifications by doodle will be available soon for iPhone.
