Today, October 19, is World Day against Breast Cancer and therefore, FECMA, the Spanish Breast Cancer Federation in collaboration with SEOM , the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology have relied on Samsung to develop a mobile application that helps women keep track that facilitates the prevention and early diagnosis of this disease that affects each year to 1 in 8 women.
The idea was born from the statistics that indicate that the majority of young users are familiar with the use of mobile applications, so getting used to a series of preventive gestures is much easier if they come from an app.
But CuidAPPlas, which is the name of the app developed by Samsung, is not only for young people, since its interface and its use are really simple. It can be downloaded completely free of charge at Google Play and when starting it will ask us for a record whose purpose is to know what are the initial factors that make us prone to suffer from breast cancer. These factors are age, breast size and of course family history.
Once we have completed the initial registration, the application will ask us a series of simple questions with the intention of knowing if we are leading a life sufficiently in line with the prevention parameters. We'll add how many times we do breast exams at home, how often we attend gynecological check-ups, how he althy our lives are, and our level of physical activity. With all these parameters, the application marks us a percentage to know if we are doing things correctly. We can improve, and for them we must register what our actions are so that this percentage increases.
The application has a very simple interface in pink tones, as a symbol of the fight against this terrible disease. Inside it we find a useful calendar in which we can record our gynecological check-ups and the results of tests such as mammogramsWe can also take the calculation of menstrual cycles and breast examinations in order to locate if there are changes in our body that can alert us to go to the doctor.
The Samsung application has been endorsed by GEICAM, Spanish Breast Cancer Research Group,so all its contents are fully approved by an organization that has spent more than twenty years developing clinical research to prevent breast cancer.
The application is already available on Google Play and very soon it will also be on Galaxy App. Also, on this occasion, the model in pink color of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge becomes the smartphone image of the initiative.
