It is a simple and at the same time nice tool to communicate through sign language All this without having to have any idea of this language. For this there is Hugo, a somewhat caricatured character but who is the real protagonist of the application This is a 3D character with long arms, big hands, and slender fingers who expresses himself really well on the screen. He is thetranslatorof this application and allows you to express with signs all the phrases that are entered in the application.
Its operation is really simple. Although the application is of Brazilian origin and is not yet fully translated from Portuguese, its operation is basic and simpleSimply access the main menu, where Hugo patiently waits for orders, and press the button +This displays a small menu to be able to write everything that you want to say, or dictate it out loud. This second option is currently only available in Portuguese, so it is only possible to write everything you want Hugotransmit.
Thus, when you click on the pencil icon, a new screen appears to write the message. These are short phrases, since only 140 characters are allowed After writing the message, all that remains is to click on the tick in the corner top right Automatically, Hugo reappears on the screen to gesture and show the phrase through of its upper extremities The character has been designed to clearly show each word, so despite its caricature, it is truly expressive. In addition, as if that is not enough, the phrase previously written appears progressively, like a moving label, at the top of the screen.
The Hand Talk application also has other interesting additions. Of course, you have to understand Portuguese slightly to be able to move comfortably through the menu. The really important thing is found in the menu Settings, identified with the icon of a toothed wheel. Here it is possible to control the speed of gestures of Hugo, as well as activate or deactivate the legend that is being translated, if you do not want it to be displayed (avoid gossip). This application also allows to save favorite phrases to be able to launch them without having to type them in full each time they are used. You just have to mark them with the favourite star
In short, a tool that, despite not being completely adapted to Spanish, is useful for communicating with deaf people. A good direction and demonstration of what applications and mobile phones can do for users beyond giving access to social networks or chats.
