WhatsApp stops working on New Year's Eve
The messaging service WhatsApp suffers one of its falls or failures again and leaves users around the world without messagesbefore closing the year 2015 A problem that seemed forgotten in recent months, but that has affected a few hours of celebrating New Year's Eve in Spain, and when half the world is already celebrating. At the moment messages are sent intermittently, suffering temporary outages that prevent text, images or videos from circulating regularly through chats.
Apparently, the first problems were noticed after 7 pm in the afternoon of 31 December, when many users have begun to realize that they did not receive the usual New Year's greetings on these dates. The same thing happened with the messages sent, which actually remained wait to leave the terminal with the clock icon that informs the user of this phase of the shipment. In other words, an impossible communication through the application that has been extended over time for half an hour, reactivating the operation from 19:30 approximatelyOf course, it seems that the cuts are still active intermittently, with messages that arrive with delay
As usual, the application has not confirmed the problem it was experiencing through its menu Help, where it is possible to check the service status. And it is that, according to our own tests, a message warned that the application worked normally. Something very different from what could be seen on the social network Twitter during those same moments, where users actively complained about the lack of functionality of WhatsApp, and they shared their impressions and feelings at not being able to speak on such an important date with friends and family.
It is precisely in the social network of the 140 characters where the users of have been able to inform themselves WhatsApp about service downtime. Information that, as always, arrives mixed with cartoons and humorous memes about this “fall”, or about how trivial an individual's life seems when their relationships are severed through this tool.Images, GIFs, witty phrases and despair that show the importance of WhatsApp in the day daily and, above all, on special dates.
As always, WhatsApp is silent about this problem (it must be taken into account that on this occasion it has been brief), without informing through his official account at Twitter, nor through his own application. Thus, it is understood that the problem may be caused by the saturation of its servers due to the large influx of congratulations and messages that are usually sent on these dates. We must not forget that, during the celebration of New Year, WhatsApp records its milestones with a greater number of messages sent each year, exceeding 54 billion in 2014 A growth that could not sustain at all times, suffering this type of falls or failures.
At the moment the service seems functional, although it would not be unreasonable for new outages or crashes to occur. As already reflected in Twitter, users seem to be well aware that Telegram is a good resource in these cases, although they only remember it when WhatsApp stops working.
Update: Application outages continue to occur intermittentlyone hour after the first fault.
