Social networks are no longer something that remains for a small part of the population. They are a window into the world of the people behind them. A place to get to know these people better, discover their environment and enjoy the content they share, which is neither more nor less than part of their personality. But what happens to all that content when the person who manages it passes away? In the case of Facebook it is possible to delete all this information, or leave a commemorative profile and managed by a bequeathed person to whom said account has been inherited .Here's how.
On Facebook there are two ways to transform a profile into a commemorative one.One of them is a posteriori, after the death of the user. In this case, it is necessary to request Facebook to transform the user's profile, without anyone being able to manage their content and friend requests. The other way is that the user himself, before his death, requests that his profile remain in memory mode. It is in this case when, voluntarily, he can assign the legacy of his account. Of course, with certain limitations. A mere procedure to be able to manage various useful issues after your death.
To do this, all you have to do is access the Facebook Settings menu. Just click on the tab with the three lines on the right side, click on Account Settings and then go to theSecurity section. Here you can find the Legacy Contact section, where you can select a friend or family member to manage the account once the death of the original owner is reported.
The next step is click on the Choose contact option, of course, entering the user password again to secure the process. After that it is possible write the name of that person who has a Facebook account and who will be in charge of managing the commemorative account bequeathed by the user. At the moment you will not receive any notification as a legacy contact. Only at the moment in which Facebook learns through its commemorative account request system that said user has died. Of course, it is always possible to contact her in advance to explain her intentions and wishes.
With this process, that legacy user has the power to change the profile and cover photos. In this way, you can respect the will of the user and show images that faithfully represent him, being able to replace any circumstantial photograph that does not do honor to his memory. Apart from this, this legacy user can manage friend requests after death, allowing more contacts to see and access the memorial profile or not. Lastly, you can pin a post as parent. Something that informs about the love for the deceased user, the date of the funeral or a special content that you want to show first in this commemorative profile.
Of course, the security and privacy of the deceased remain intact. And it is that the contact that somehow inherits the administration of the commemorative profile cannot delete publications, read the private messages of the deceased or enter her account as such. Thus, it remains as a mere manager but without being able to modify any of its content. An extra point is the possibility of being able to download a copy of everything published by the deceased user in his profile, as long as he allows it in the previous request.
