How to Backup and Dump WhatsApp Chats on iPhone
WhatsApp is the messaging service par excellence and whoever doesn't know it is living under a rock. The popular instant messaging application already has hundreds of millions of users around the world and Spain is one of the countries that hits the most. No one calls or sends an SMS anymore, instead we use WhatsApp, some of them almost obsessively. With so many messages, photos, videos and audio clips coming and going, it's normal that we don't want to lose our chat history if for example change mobile or delete the applicationFortunately, WhatsApp has a feature that saves a backup copy of your chats, to that we do not lose any conversation. We will tell you how you can make a backup copy of your WhatsApp chats on iPhone and how to dump it later.
The process is very simple and allows us to save the copies manually or schedule them. To access these options, openWhatsApp and go to the tab Settings Within this menu we will find the option Chat settings, which takes us to another menu where the option we are looking for is located, called Chat copy.
WhatsApp Backups are stored in iCloud , the cloud of Apple, and as we said can be programmed. However, before we begin, please note that the copy will only store the chats and images, not the videos. The reason is that this way the copies will not take up too much space and will be easier to manage. If you want to keep the videos you will have to store them on the device or upload them to an online storage service manually. At the top of the copy panel of WhatsApp, we are shown the size that the copy will have , as well as the number of messages and images to be copied. At the bottom of the screen we see the date of the last copy and a warning about the consumption of mobile data. To avoid scares, it is best toturn off iCloud data usage, so copies will only be made when we're connected via a network WiFi To configure this option, go to Settings – iCloud – Documents and data – Use mobile data.
The options offered to us WhatsApp include make a backup at the moment -that is, manually- or program them with the frequency we want. The option Automatic copy allows us to choose between daily, weekly or monthly copies, in addition to being able to disable the option. Dumping the copies is very simple, although you have to meet a couple of requirements The First is that the iPhone in which we want to dump the chats is linked to the same Apple IDand the second is that we log in to WhatsApp with the same phone number. When we have everything ready, WhatsApp will ask us if we want to dump the copy stored in iCloud, it's that easy.
