Uber can go back to work in Germany
It has only been a couple of weeks since a court of the Frankfurt Provincial Court banned the operation of the Uber service throughout Germanyso that, now, you can step back and cancel that resolution. And it is that the application Uber appealed as confirmed after being informed of said sentence that not only prohibited its operation, but also fined 250,000 euros to those responsible for the service if the court's decision was not complied with. Now the same Provincial Court once again agrees with the application and allows it to operate again in German territory.
The permanence of Uber in Germany continues to create tension between the guild of taxi drivers And, as in Spain, they require some fees, taxes and licenses that are required by law for the transport of passengers. Something that the drivers of Uber do not do, thus being able to lower their prices and offer a service that, according to the taxi drivers' union, does not protect passengers
Following the decision taken in August by an urgency procedure, Uber decided to appeal to return his service to Germany. Something that has forced the Frankfurt Provincial Court to annul the ruling as there are no reasons to apply said urgency procedure with which it was originally issued. In this way, the service of the Uber application can return to normal operation on the streets of all of Germany without fear of its drivers or managers being fined, no risk of jail for them
Given the new ruling, the German taxi drivers' union does not want to sit idly by either. For this reason, it affirms that will appeal the new sentence before a higher court to avoid, as much as possible, that Uber Continue to use your illegal and risky methods for the passengers who hire your service. And it is that, without a license, there is no insurance for the client. Uber, for its part, points out that the ban on its service means putting an end to customers' choice
Therefore, the tension between this private transport application for users and the taxi drivers' union is maintained once again. Thus, the courts seem to agree with one and the other in the face of the pressure received from both sides. On the one hand, taxi drivers continue to maintain their complaints based on the passenger transport laws and complaining that the drivers of Uber do not pay the necessary fees and licenses. On the other hand, Uber has the support of the European Commission and users, which they see it as a powerful alternative to the expensive taxi prices.
For the moment, the strike last August that paralyzed taxis in several European cities seems not to have had the desired effect. Although, in Barcelona the drivers of Uber are being persecuted by taxi drivers and police officers, there is a municipal order to fine up to 4,000 euros for those who transport passengers without a license.
