The voice call icon appears within WhatsApp
The application of WhatsApp has just received a new update which brings with it a preview of the long-awaited voice calls option that will allow users to talk to their contacts completely free of charge. At the moment, the update is available for download only from the official website of this application (link: http://www.whatsapp.com/android/ ), and at the moment it is only a small sample that allows us to see what the option will be like that will allow users to call their contacts from WhatsAppIn other words, this update already incorporates an option with the name “Call the contact“, but for the moment this option is not yet fully enabled.
To try the new voice call option in WhatsApp all you have to do is create a group, invite your friend to you want to call, click on their profile and select the option “Call the contact” that appears when you perform this action. Although the application will show us the animation corresponding to voice calls from WhatsApp, the truth is that for the moment it is only a test that is not yet fully operational, so we will not be able to talk to our contact through this option until a new -and final- update appears.
The news of the voice call option of WhatsApp received its official confirmation at the mobile telephony event Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona at the end of February this year. During this event, Jan Koum (CEO and co-founder ofWhatsApp) announced to attendees that his application would receive a new option for voice calls before the arrival of summer. And for the moment, everything seems to indicate that his announcement has all the ballots to end up being fulfilled within the established period, since with this update we can confirm that the definitive option of voice calls is just around the corner.
Of course, with this new update of WhatsApp many doubts have also arisen in relation to the true operation of theoption voice callsPresumably, calling a contact from the application will not entail any expense beyond the megabytes consumed when using the data rate, but... how will the large telephone operators take this news? After losing the SMS market, will carriers also be willing to give up the lucrative benefits that conventional phone call rates provide?
Let's also remember that this is an update in the form of a beta version, so anyone who installs it must be aware that it is a file aimed at detecting errors and problems related to this new version ( 2.11.240). We will have to wait a few weeks to see the official arrival of the voice calls option.
