The new fashion on Instagram has come in the form of a challenge. On this occasion, and unlike the previous ones, it is a simple hashtag in which, in essence, two photographs of the same person are compared ten years apart. Its name is 10 Years Challange, and its intention is nothing more than to compare the physical change of the person in question in those ten years. But, how can we rescue photographs from a decade ago and put them in the same image? On this occasion we will teach you how to recover old photographs from your mobile and edit them to participate in the Ten Years Challenge, the # 10YearsChallenge.
# 10YearsChallenge, how to recover a photo from 2009
Getting a decade-old photograph can be tedious if we do not have a mobile from the time. Unless we have a physical photograph on hand, the best way to recover a photo from 2009 is to use Google Photos. And is that if we have a Gmail account prior to the aforementioned year, it is most likely that Google has automatically stored a photo of our adolescence. Do we have any physical photos? In this article we teach you how to scan old photos with your mobile.
To find the photograph in question, we will open the Google Photos application and type in the search engine '2009'. Then, we will be shown a collection of all the photographs from the same year classified by date. In our case, as we do not have photos prior to 2012, we will have to settle for choosing one from this year.
If we have already found the desired photograph, the best way to have it as high as possible in our Gallery will be to share it with a contact or with ourselves in applications such as Instagram or WhatsApp. We can also use the screenshot by pressing the Volume up and Lock buttons at the same time.
How to participate in the 10 Years Challenge by putting two images together
When we have recovered the desired image, the next thing we must do to join two images in the same photograph is to download the Layout for Instagram application from Google Play. Once installed, we will open it and choose the two images that we want to upload to the 10 Years Challenge. The application allows us to choose different proportions, but the one indicated is the one shown in the image below.
After having selected the proportion, we can now edit the two images. We can adjust the brightness, alignment, position, and many other parameters. We can also add margins if we wish. What we cannot do is add a text. In this case we will have to resort to an external photo editor.
There are a lot of applications for this, but the one that has worked best for us is Picsart, which is free in the Google Play Store. Once installed, we will open it and select the image that we have previously edited in Layout for Instagram. When the image editor opens, we will select the text tool and add a box with '2009' as the main word.
To add the text of '2019', we will follow the same process that we just explained. We can add as many elements as we want, as it is an advanced editor. Picture frames, stickers, deformations and so on.
When we have finished editing the photograph, we can share it on Instagram by clicking on the button of the same name in the Picsart application. Of course, we cannot forget about the # 10YearsChallenge hashtag, since none of this would make sense.
