And it is no wonder, because EMUI, Huawei's customization layer, integrates so many functions and options that it is almost impossible to know them all. At Tuexperto we are aware of this and we have made a compilation of nothing more and nothing less than 10 tricks for Huawei and Honor phones.
Before proceeding we must clarify that some of the Huawei and Honor tricks that we will see below are only compatible with the latest versions of EMUI, either EMUI 8 or EMUI 5.1. Of course, it also depends on the device and the range to which it belongs.
Activate double-tap unlock
One of the most useful functions and one of the easiest Huawei and Honor mobile tricks to apply. If we want to unlock our Honor 9 or Huawei P20 Lite through a double press on the screen we will have to go to the Control movements section within Intelligent Assistance. Then we will give Press twice and activate the corresponding box.
Take photos quickly with Quick Snapshot
Do you want to quickly take a photo with your Huawei Mate 10 Lite or P10 Lite? A very useful trick is to resort to Quick Snapshot. With the terminal locked, we will press the volume down button twice and the Camera application will automatically open to take a photo.
Use your voice to take photos
Group photos never went out of style, however, most of the time we are forced to resort to a third person to take the capture. EMUI integrates a very useful function to take pictures with our voice. To do this, we will open the Camera application and slide the interface to the left to open the Advanced Settings. Next we will look for the Audio Control section and activate the different options to take pictures with the voice.
Take screenshots with your fingers and knuckles
Another of the most useful tricks for Honor or Huawei phones with EMUI. To take screenshots with the fingers or with the knuckles (it depends on the model), we will have to go back to the Control movements section within Smart Assistance and activate the Capture option with three fingers or with the knuckles in the event that our mobile is compatible with this technology.
Install themes in EMUI
Surely you have ever thought about installing themes in EMUI on your Huawei P20 and Honor 10. By default the application that allows us to do so does not usually come installed, that is why we have to refer to the Play Store to download it. As simple as clicking on this link or searching in the store "Themes for Huawei / Honor EMUI".
Have a native dark mode
Who doesn't want to have a dark mode on their Huawei P Smart. Fortunately this is possible through the Themes app itself mentioned in the previous tip. One of the most famous dark themes for EMUI is Pitch Black, which we can download for free in the Play Store through this link. Once installed, we will go to the Themes application, to the Installed section and we will apply it.
Activate the user interface for one hand
Handling the mobile with one hand is increasingly difficult due to the increasing size of the screens. Luckily, Huawei and Honor phones include an option to reduce the system interface. In this case, we will go again to the Smart Assistance section and to the User Interface option for one hand. Once inside, we can activate the Mini-screen View and the Keyboard for one hand.
Protect apps and lock them with your fingerprint
Locking apps with lock fingerprint or pattern is one of the most useful tricks of EMUI. Doing so is as simple as going to the Security and privacy section in Android Settings and looking for the App Lock option. Now we will only have to select the applications that we want to block.
Force Huawei and Honor updates
Didn't the Android Oreo update come to your Huawei P10 or P10 Lite? If it has already been submitted, we can force its installation. As simple as downloading the Firmware Finder for Huawei application available in the Play Store and downloading the update you want. We must clarify that in the newer models we must unlock the bootloader to install updates through said application.
Change the default launcher
Changing the EMUI launcher is not as easy as in other layers of customization. To do it on an Honor or Huawei mobile we will have to go to the Default Applications section within Applications and notifications. Next we will click on Activator and finally we will select the launcher that we want, either Nova Launcher or EMUI's own.
Duplicate WhatsApp, Facebook and any other application
Ok, with this there are already 11 tricks, but we couldn't let it pass. If until a while ago we had to resort to third-party applications to use two WhatsApp or Facebook accounts, today it is possible to do so with the latest versions of EMUI. For this we will go to the Applications and notifications section in the Android Settings and we will look for the twin App option. Once inside, all the compatible applications will appear.
