Do you have a OnePlus 6T and want to get the most out of it? The new OnePlus device has Oxygen OS, a very complete customization layer and with many, many options. The OnePlus 6T with Oxygen OS hides some very interesting features to improve the performance and usability of the device. We tell you 10 very useful and simple tricks so that you can make the most of the terminal.
Change icons
The OnePlus 6T allows you to change the application icons. We can choose between the default ones, or third parties in Google Play. To change the icon we will have to hold down on the main screen, access 'home screen settings' and press where it says 'Icon pack'. There we can select the one we want, even download a new one. To apply the new icon pack we just have to click on the Home button and that's it.
Disable Feed
The OnePlus 6T features a side feed called the Shelf. This is on the home page and replaces Google Now or the popular Google Feed. Unfortunately there is no option to change the OnePlus feed to Google's, but we can deactivate the current one. To do this, we just have to press and hold on the home screen, go to 'home screen settings' and uncheck the option that says 'Shelf'.
Activate the screen with double tap
The OnePlus 6T features an in-display fingerprint reader. Even so, we can turn on the terminal screen with a single touch. Of course, to unlock the device we will need to enter the fingerprint or wait for facial recognition to be applied. So this option is very useful if we want to see notifications from the lock screen.
By default, the OnePlus 6T double-tap option is disabled. To activate it, we go to Home and hold until we open the preferences panel. Once the three options appear, click on the option that says 'home screen settings'. Finally, we click on 'double tap to turn on the screen'. Now when the screen is off we can double click and it will turn on.
Change the topic
With Oxygen OS, the customization layer of the OnePlus 6T, we can change the colors and tones or choose between a dark or light theme mode. How? From the system settings. We will have to go to the screen option and go down to where it says 'personalization'. Now, click on 'topic' and choose the one we like the most. We can also change the colors of some elements.
Hide the notch
The OnePlus 6T has a 'drop type' notch. That is, a notch in the upper area that only houses the camera for selfies, which makes it look very similar to a drop of water. This notch is much more subtle, but it may bother you and you prefer to have a thin top frame. In the settings there is an option to activate and deactivate this notch.
To do this, we go to the system settings - Screen and click on the option that says 'screen in notch'. Now we only select if we want to show the notch or a black upper frame. As it is an AMOLED panel, it will appear that that area is a frame. Of course, the notifications will stay at the top.
Quick start
A very interesting option of the OnePlus 6T is the quick start. It is an option that allows us to access different shortcuts in a much more practical way: by pressing and holding on the fingerprint reader. To activate the quick start, we must go to 'Settings', 'Utilities' and click on 'quick start'. Activate the option. Finally, turn off the screen, hold on the fingerprint reader and wait a few seconds, even with the screen on and the terminal unlocked. You will see the shortcuts appear and you can slide over them to choose an option.
Take advantage of the game mode
Without a doubt, the OnePlus 6T is a good device for gaming. It has a game mode where we can manage different options, such as silencing notifications, calls, etc. The game mode can be found in the system settings, in the utilities section. If we enter the option we can activate or deactivate different option boxes, as well as add games to the mode. In this way, every time it starts, the configuration will be carried out.
Change buttons for gestures
Android 9.0 Pie introduced the option to change the classic navigation bar for one that includes gestures. To change it in the OnePlus 6T, we just have to go to 'Settings', 'buttons and gestures' and click on 'gestures and navigation bar'. There we can choose between different types of options, such as the new Android 9.0 Pie navigation bar or gestures directly on the screen.
Activate the Google Assistant with the power button
A very practical and simple trick: we can press and hold the start button to activate the Google Assistant. To do this, we go to 'Settings', 'Buttons and gestures' and activate the option that says 'quick activation of the start application'. Now, every time we hold the home button for about 5 seconds we will wake up the Google Assistant.
Use two social media accounts
The OnePlus 6T has an option that allows us to add two accounts from different social networks, such as WhatsApp or Facebook. This is very useful if, for example, we have two phone numbers. To use two accounts we just have to go to 'Settings', go down to the 'utilities' option and click on 'parallel applications'. Next, we select the app we want to clone and that's it. We will only have to enter the other data.
